MANILA, Philippines – It has been months since Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz broke up, but the actress said that she and John Lloyd have maintained their friendship.
In an interview with the press at the sidelines of a press conference for her upcoming movie The Unmarried Wife on Thursday, November 3, Angelica was asked if there's a possibility that she and John Lloyd would get back together. The two were spotted last month at a restaurant.
"Siguro ang masasabi ko lang ay masaya ako ngayon and masaya siya. Magkaibigan kami, at alam nating lahat na halos imposible sa isang dalawang tao na nagkaroon ng relasyon ang maging magkaibigan in the end. But siguro isa iyon sa mga bagay na proud kami dahil kahit gaano kahirap, may struggles syempre nung umpisa kung paano mo maintain yung friendship.
(I guess what I can say is I'm happy, and he's happy now. We're friends and we all know how pretty much impossible it can be for two people in a previous relationship become friends in the end. But I guess this is one of the things we're proud of, because even if it's difficult, there are struggles of course in the beginning on how you'll maintain the friendship.)
“Pero gaya nga ng sabi natin, nagmahalan kayo dati, bakit naman kailangan mauwi sa away 'di ba?" she said.
(But as we said before, you loved each other before, so why do you have to end up fighting, right?)

When it comes to love though, Angelica had this to say:
"Basta pag nagmahal at nasaktan ka, magpaganda ka after, " Angelica said.
(If you love and get hurt, go be fierce after.)
"Lagi ko sinasabi pwede ka naman magmahal nang wagas di ba? Kahit pa one-way, two-way, may u-turn, love iyan e.
(I always said that you can love completely right? If if it's one-way, two-way, u-turn, that's love.)
"Maganda kung ang buong mundo nagmamahalan lang – walang gender, walang religion involved. Dapat peace and love lang tayong lahat.
(It would be a wonderful thing if everyone loved each other – no gender, no religion involved. We should all be about peace and love.)
“Kasi sa tingin ko, iikot lang ang mundo kapag meron kang pagmamahal at respeto sa sarili mo at sa ibang tao.
(Because I think the world will go on really, if you have love and respect for yourself and other people.)
As for settling down in the future, Angelica said she still doesn't see herself getting married for now, as she wants to focus on herself first.
“Hindi siguro in the near future pero alam ninyo ang isip naman ng tao nagbabago iyan.
(I guess not in the near future but you know, a person can change his/her mind.)
"And baka ma misquote lang ako pero nirerespeto ko lahat ng mga taong nakakita ng kanilang partners at successful sa kanilang married life. And how I wish di ba, someday nga ay maging ganun din ang mangyari sa akin,” she said.
(And I might be misquoted, but I respect everyone who find their partners and become successful in their married life. And how I wish someday, that will also happen for me.)
The Unmarried Wife
Aside from Banana Split, Angelica is now busy promoting her new movie The Unmarried Wife, directed by Maryo J delos Reyes. Angelica stars with Dingdong Dantes and Paulo Avelino.
In the movie, Angelica plays Anne, a woman who is hesitant about falling in love because of a painful childhood experience. After she meets and marries, Geoff (Dingdong) she soon discovers his infidelities. While deciding whether to save her marriage and family, she meets Bryan (Paulo) who promises to love her the way she should be loved.

MANILA, Philippines – Get ready for a The Notebook sequel – starring Ryan Reynolds and "Conan McAdams!"
In a hilarious spoof on Conan, published on YouTube on Wednesday, November 2, Conan O'Brien and Ryan Reynolds locked lips in the rain, just like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams' characters in The Notebook.
Conan was dressed as Allie (Rachel) in a blue dress and pearls, and delivered her famous lines too: "Why? Why didn't you write me? It wasn't over for me. I waited for you for 7 years! And now it's too late!"
On cue, an equally devastated Ryan as Noah (Ryan Gosling) responds, "I wrote you 365 letters."
Of course, their stellar performance finished with a passionate kiss, complete with hands caressing each other's faces and running through each other's hair.
Ryan Gosling and Rachel's kiss was an iconic scene in The Notebook, which earned them Best Kiss in the 2005 MTV Movie Awards.
Like their onscreen kiss, Ryan Gosling and Rachel's acceptance of the said award was iconic as well.
The new trailer gives fans a better look at Diana's (Gal Gadot) origins, opening with scenes on Themyscira.
"I used to want to save the world, this beautiful place. But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within," a voice is heard saying in the beginning of the trailer. "I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago."
We also see Chris Pine earnestly talking about dangers to come.
Diana learns about the "war to end all wars" from Steve Trevor (Chris) she ventures out of Themyscira to fight in World War I.

PARIS, France –Sting will re-open Paris' Bataclan concert hall on November 12, a day before the anniversary of the jihadist attacks that left 90 people dead there, the British rock star said Friday, November 4.
The former frontman of The Police said in a statement on his website: "In re-opening the Bataclan, we have two important tasks to reconcile.
"First, to remember and honor those who lost their lives in the attack a year ago, and second to celebrate the life and the music that this historic theater represents.
"In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell. We shall not forget them."
All revenues from the show will be donated to two charities working with victims of the Paris attacks, the statement added.
The Bataclan was one of several Paris locations targeted on the night of November 13, 2015 when Islamic State gunmen suicide bombers also attacked bars, restaurants and the national stadium, killing a total of 130 people. – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – More than two years after they ended their relationship, Aljur Abrenica confirmed that he and Kylie Padilla are once again dating.
On Friday, November 4, Aljur told Pep that he and Kylie got back together in September.
Even though Kylie dated two other guys after him, Aljur said, they still have a connection and still remained friends. Aljur did not date anyone since their breakup in 2014.
The actor also explained what he thinks went wrong the first time around: "What happened sa aming dalawa kasi, nung kami ni Kylie before, we’re full of ourselves. 'Yung sentro ng mundo ay nasa amin lang. And limited 'yung time namin, so busy, may kanya-kanya kaming trabaho. And pag nagkikita kami, kami lang. In short, hindi kami nagkaroon ng panahon para mag-grow. And then, exactly, mga bata pa kami nun."
(What happened between us two, with me and Kylie before, we're full of ourselves. We were the center of our world. And our time was limited, we were so busy, we each had our own jobs. And when we'd see each other, it was just us. In short, we didn't have the opportunity to grow. And then, exactly, were were still kids then.)
When asked if he courted Kylie again, Aljur said: "We don’t verbalize it, but we always do like that... never naman nawala. Nandoon pa rin 'yung pagmamahal. So, hindi siya nawala. Walang pag-uusap na 'Sige, tayo na ulit?'"
(We don't verbalize it, but we always do like that... it never went away. The love is still there. So it didn't go away. There was no conversation where we said, 'Okay, it's us again?')
He said that they would often meet up and talk for hours and that's when they realized that they still loved each other. "Now is the right time para officially makapagbalikan [kami] (Now is the right time for us to officially be back together)," he said.
Promises, speaking to Robin Padilla
Aljur also toldPep what he could promise Kylie now that they are back together "Ang gusto ko lang naman, Kylie, makasama kang mag-grow, spiritually, emotionally, physically, sa lahat ng aspeto ng buhay. Sa lahat ng pinagdaanan, na-realize ko na masaya akong kasama ka."
(All I want, Kylie, is to grow with you, spiritually, emotionally, physically, in all aspects of life. After everything that we've been through, I realized that I'm happy with you.)
He added that they were still young when they were together before, but there is a better understanding between them now.
"What I can promise is... hanggang sa tumanda kami, hindi kami tatanda. Tatanda lang kami physically, but by heart, hindi," he added.
(What I can promise is... until we grow old, we won't grow old. We'll only grow old physically, but by heart, we won't.)
Aside from Kylie, Aljur will have to talk to her family as well, including her dad, Robin Padilla.
On speaking to Robin about the relationship and any possible misgivings Robin might have on their reunion, Aljur said: “Whatever happened before, it’s the past. And I'm presenting myself again, na I have to take care of his daughter.
"And whatever me and Kylie agreed, we realized how much we miss and love each other. Two years na tiniis ko 'yun. Hindi naman siya talaga nawala (I withstood that for two years. I didn't really go away).
"There’s a lot of realizations, so I’m excited na mabigyan kami [ni Robin] ng pagkakataon na makapag-usap (for Robin and I to get the chance to talk).”
Aljur, 26, and Kylie, 23, recently spent time together in Japan. Aljur posted a few of their photos together on his Instagram.
MANILA, Philippines – Years after her annulment from Panfilo "Pampi" Lacson Jr, Jodi Sta Maria has opened up about the struggles she faced at the time.
According to Cebu Daily News, Jodi spoke in October at a conference called "The Perfect Love," held at J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
"My life was such a mess na hindi ko alam kung saan ako magsisimula. Wala nang magmamahal sa akin kasi separada na ako, segunda mano," Jodi shared during the conference, describing how she felt when she filed for annulment.
(My life was such a mess that I didn't know where to start. Nobody would love me anymore because I was separated already, second hand.)
“Before becoming a workaholic, I became an alcoholic. I drank day and night. I even drank during tapings, ang gusto ko kasi masolusyunan 'yung feeling ko (I wanted a solution to my feeling) of pain and emptiness. When alcohol wasn’t enough, I turned to drugs. I felt empty. I pretended to be okay when the truth is hindi naman talaga (I wasn't really). I was in and out of bad relationships that left me all the more wounded and broken."
Jodi, now 34, married Pampi when she was 22, and their marriage lasted for 5 years. They have a 10-year-old son, Panfilo "Thirdy" Lacson III.
She said that she thinks marrying at a young age was one of the reasons their marriage didn't work out. "Instead of bringing out the best in each other, it brought out the worst in us. At that point, we could not protect Thirdy from the chaos in the home, so we decided to separate," said Jodi.
She recalled that she felt "lost and broken" while the annulment was ongoing, because they had to go through all the details of their relationship.
"My life was such a mess na hindi ko na alam kung saan ako magsisimula (I didn't know where to start). I needed attention. I needed acknowledgment. It even showed in the relationship I had with him. No matter how unhealthy and abusive, I stayed in the relationship because it felt okay, may nagmamahal sa akin at may nakakapansin (someone loves me and notices me)."
It wasn't until 2014 that things changed, said Jodi, because she accepted veteran actress Coney Reyes invitation to attend church.
"Nahihiya na kasi ako, kasi ang tagal na niyang ini-invite ako, but there, dun ko nakilala ang Panginoon. Then Be Careful with My Heart came. This teleserye was a major turning point in my life because I had everything—because I found Jesus. I had a major concert abroad, sold-out, but backstage, I was crying. Fame and money were empty. There was nothing on top."
Jodi said she has since quit her vices and has a newfound respect for her body.
After her annulment, Jodi dated Jolo Revilla, but confirmed in June that she and Jolo had broken up.
Aside from starring in the series Be Careful With My Heart, Jodi was also in Pangako Sa 'Yo with Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Ian Veneracion.
Jodi was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in the 2016 International Emmy Awards for her performance in Pangako Sa 'Yo. The winners will be announced on November 21. – Rappler.com

Enzo Williams’ The Escortis an awfully dated movie.
As explained in the various voice-overs throughout the movie, Xyruz (Derek Ramsey), manager of a high-end escort agency who is himself an escort, never expected to fall in love with Yassi (Lovi Poe), a supposedly virtuous lass he lures into the lucrative world of love-for-hire. But he does, and he does so in the most tedious and uninteresting of ways.
Bad romance
The Escort imagines itself as a great romance.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
It thinks that it has an endearing story about a man and a woman who find love in a hopeless place. It’s not. It is however a confused and confusing narrative that attempts to go to as many places as possible except that it doesn’t really arrive anywhere. The ludicrous love story is the center of the movie, and moving around it are side plots that expose how derivative the entire thing is.
Yassi, as it turns out, catches the eye of wealthy widower Gary Montenilla (Christopher de Leon). She is religiously wooed and wowed until lines are blurred, making her blossoming relationship with Xyruz vulnerable to divided attractions. Gary also has a rich benefactor in the person of the two-timing wife (Jean Garcia) of a corrupt mayor who is languishing in jail. (READ: In 'The Escort,' Lovi, Derek and Christopher navigate complicated relationships)

The characters’ convoluted relations eventually merge midway, resulting in clashes and confrontations that are so predictable, they never really amount to any real tension or excitement. The movie also squanders all opportunities to graduate the material into anything other than a collection of troubling clichés. It is lazily structured, with all its bits and pieces falling together in the most conventional of fashion.
Unrestricted entertainment
Sure, it is easy entertainment, if one’s idea of entertainment involves a half-baked and unrealistic romance that is wrapped around a witless milieu. Its portrayal of women is deplorable, relegating them as either virginal prudes or jokes.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
It’s also been done before, and more importantly, without the distracting glitter. At least, when this type of soulless diversion was being produced in droves decades ago, the sole aim was unabashed titillation. There was absolutely no pretense of quality.
The Escorthowever aspires to be unrestricted entertainment, to be enjoyed by the public the same way they enjoy a run-of-the-mill rom-com. It creates spectacle, displaying characters who drive the fanciest cars and take vacations in the most luxurious of beach resorts without rhyme or reason except that the movie looks better with its attractive leads cavorting in places that are as attractive as them.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
The spectacle however is barren. The purpose is just to make the entire picture easy on the eyes, making its goal of peddling escapism at the expense of any real substance easier.
Empty and repugnant

The Escort is as empty as it is repugnant. Shot with the fanciest of sets and regal gloss, the movie looks and feels like the pathetically simplistic escorts it so merrily exploits for easy love and very cheap thrills. – Rappler.com

It doesn’t help Diane Ventura’s Mulat that it is preceded by TheRapist, her 2011 short film that is ultimately a coverage of a conversation between a man (Marco Morales) and his therapist (Cherie Gil). The short offers a flavor of what is to come, which is essentially a whole lot of initially intriguing but eventually cumbersome jibber-jabber. It ends with a twist that woefully fails to amount to anything worthwhile.
Indulgent babble
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
While TheRapist limits the chitchat within a comfortable period, Mulat has a whole lot of room to fill up with characters engaging in all manner of talk. Sure, both films have their seemingly endless prattle ripen into plot twists and revelations. However, those narrative gimmicks do not really graduate the material. The films remain as bland as all their indulgent babble
The premise of Mulat is also more conventional, making its lengthy dialogues about commitment and relationships more familiar but also more tedious than TheRapist’s more provocative commentary on rape.
Mulatchronicles the experiences of Sam (Loren Burgos), a girl who was once engaged to be married to ill-tempered Vincent (Ryan Eigenmann) but has abruptly called off the engagement after waking up from a dream of dying in a vehicular accident. The movie then goes back and forth between two timelines, showing scenes from Sam and Vincent’s rocky relationship and what seems to be scenes from after the failed engagement, when Sam finally meets Jake (Jake Cuenca), who insists on helping Sam to move on.
For a film that spends so much time with characters speaking their minds on love and commitment, Mulat doesn’t really do much to make any of its characters more interesting than their mundane concerns.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
The film lacks a concrete milieu, with its characters seemingly existing in a listless world bereft of any real soul, culture or character. The characters interact only with each other, rarely noticing anything other than themselves or the people they are conversing with. The film is so stubbornly fixated on its characters and their inexplicable infatuation with their past and present relationships that it fails to make the entire thing feel like anything but pointless clutter.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
It really is quite a suffocating experience, which could be the entire point of the process, exploring the rhythms of relationships. It does so through creatively edited but monotonously shot footage of pretty people talking too much. Sadly, there really isn’t anything more to Mulat.
Supernatural revelation
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Simply put, most of the film is just a staggered set-up to what essentially is an underwhelming surprise finish. It almost feels like the film has been constructed in such a cryptic manner just to evoke a mood that suits its supernatural revelation.
Talk is cheap, and the film has too much of it. The gimmickry that the film tries to pull off in the end to make all its torturous verbal dissection of relationships just a tad rewarding is even cheaper. – Rappler.com

PHILADELPHIA, USA – Hillary Clinton doesn't go out for the weekend without a star or two in tow.
Three days before the election, pop singer Katy Perry gave a Philadelphia performance Saturday, November 6, hoping to boost the Democrat's momentum.
Superstar Jennifer Lopez headlined a recent Miami concert hoping to rally voters for Clinton, and Friday night the US secret service said 10,000 hip hop fans turned out in Cleveland, Ohio for a free star-studded rally concert headlined by power couple Beyonce and Jay Z.
"All the campaigning in the world doesn't mean anything if people don't vote," Clinton said, shortly before presenting her fervent supporter Perry, who already stumped last year for the Democratic presidential candidate. (IN PHOTOS: Celebrities go all out for Hillary Clinton at DNC)
"When you get knocked down, which everybody does, what matters is get back up," Clinton said.
"Stand up for what you believe. Know the power of your own voice."
The 32-year-old Perry then performed her hit "Roar," a standard on the White House hopeful's official playlist.

Celebrity performances on the campaign trail are not unique to Clinton: Barack Obama attracted some 80,000 people to a 2008 Bruce Springsteen concert in Cleveland just days before Americans headed to the polls.
Despite strict controls at the door, the smell of marijuana wafted throughout the stands at the first sounds of Jay Z. Several other top rappers appeared at the event in an attempt to woo young voters.
The artists worked to instill a sense of urgency in their fans just days before the vote. Beyonce voiced pride at having had a black president for the past eight years, and called for the US to elect a woman this time.
The Clinton campaign's concerts are aimed at attracting voters who would rather spend their weekend nights anywhere but an election rally.
"I heard on the radio 'Katy Perry live,'" said Josh Burns, a 24-year-old architect. "I didn't know it was a Hillary thing."
"It's a good tactic, I like it."
But was the young voter convinced?
"It's good that artists are supporting Hillary," he said. "It makes you realize how worried they might be." – Rappler.com
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Pop superstar Justin Bieber pipped Lady Gaga at the MTV Europe Music awards Sunday, November 6, snapping up the lion's share as megastar Beyonce came away empty-handed.
In the high-energy show in the Dutch port of Rotterdam, the chart-topping Canadian singer's legendary army of fans dubbed "Beliebers" helped him slay Gaga's "monsters" to help him win three awards including for Biggest Fans.
Bieber also won Best Song for his pop hit "Sorry" and Best Canadian act.
Eccentric pop icon Lady Gaga, who once wore a dress made of meat, snapped up two awards, winning Best Female act and Best Look.
But in a surprise Beyonce – who like Bieber had been nominated in five categories and had dominated MTV's signature Video Music Awards in New York in August – was denied a share of the honors.
The award for Best Video went to fast-rising Canadian R&B sensation The Weeknd for his "Starboy" beating out Beyonce's "Formation" from her acclaimed album Lemonade.
Best Video is determined by MTV's editorial team, but most categories are decided through fans' voting
The Weeknd performed his winning song, one of his few appearances ahead of a tour next year, emerging from a star-filled dome onto the Rotterdam stage.
The high-octane night also belonged to teenage Canadian sensation, Shawn Mendes, 18, who beat out his countryman Bieber to take the award for Best Male. He also won best Worldwide Act.
Mendes thanked everyone at the ceremony, and sent special wishes to her mom as it was her birthday.
American duo Twenty One Pilots also took two honors, with Best Live act and Best Alternative.
The fast-paced show, hosted by American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha, wowed the audience packed into the Ahoy Centre in Rotterdam.
Bruno Mars and Kings of Leon were the headline performing sensations. Funk-pop singer Mars opened the show with an electric performance of his "24K Magic".
And San Francisco punk rockers Green Day received a "Global Icon" award, raising cheers when they said it was "nice to be out of America just for a second" ahead of Tuesday's elections, saying the US was about to have a "big heart attack".
Green Day led a rebirth of punk rock in the early 1990s and the band last year was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its first year of eligibility.
The home crowd also gave big cheers to Dutch DJ Martin Garrix who won the Best Electronics and the Best World Stage award.
The MTV Europe Music Awards, aired globally on television as well as over social media, aims to reach a more international audience than the network's signature US-based Video Music Awards. – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – Janella Salvador is set to release her version of the Moana song, "How Far I'll Go!"
To announce the news, Janella performed a cover of the song in English at the Southeast Asian (SEA) press conference for Moana, along with 4 other SEA stars: Maudy Ayunda from Indonesia, Ayda Jebat from Malaysia, Myra Maneepat Molloy from Thailand, and Minh Nhu from Vietnam.
The official music video for Janella's cover will be released on November 18.
In Moana, “How Far I’ll Go” is performed by Auli‘i Cravalho, who voices the titular main character opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Nicole Scherzinger.
Alessia Cara also sings the song in the movie's end credits and recently released a music video for her version. Check it out!
“How Far I’ll Go” was written by Hamilton creator and Tony-award winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda for Disney’s upcoming movie.
Lin-Manuel wrote the songs in the movie together with Mark Mancina, who wrote and co-wrote music for Tarzan and The Lion King, and Opetaia Foaʻi, founder and lead singer of the award-winning world music band Te Vaka.
“It’s intimidating to write an ‘I want’ song for a Disney animated movie,” said Lin-Manuel on "How Far I'll Go" in a press release for the movie. “You think of Ariel with ‘Part of Your World’ or ‘Reflection’ from Mulan. This is Moana’s chance to say for herself how she feels and where she belongs.”
This isn’t the first time Janella has sung a song for Disney. She also performed her version Hong Kong Disneyland’s 10th anniversary theme song, “Happily Ever After.”
Disney’s upcoming movie follows Moana, a brave girl from the Pacific Islands, as she navigates the ocean with the demi-god Maui in the hopes of saving her people.
Moana is set to hit Philippine theaters on November 30, while its 14-track soundtrack will be sold and streamed on November 18. – Rappler.com
