NEW YORK, USA – Top musicians from Beyonce to Bruce Springsteen are rallying behind Hillary Clinton in the countdown to Tuesday's election, adding A-list star power to a massive get-out-the-vote operation.

While US pop stars have long leaned to the left, the tilt toward Clinton is unprecedented in a modern election, with Republican rival Donald Trump virtually shunned by the music world.

Springsteen, one of the biggest concert attractions in the rock universe, will perform at a Clinton rally Monday evening, November 7 in the must-win state of Pennsylvania.

Jon Bon Jovi, a longtime campaigner for Democratic candidates, will also join the rally in Philadelphia alongside President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle.

Lady Gaga, in one of her first shows since releasing her latest album Joanne, will then join Clinton and Bon Jovi at a midnight stop in North Carolina.

Such celebrity entertainers invariably ensure large crowds at a point in the campaign where weak turnout would be optically disastrous.

But even more importantly, big-name performances allow campaigns to collect contact details for sympathetic voters – crucial in the polarized country where elections increasingly are won by mobilizing turnout rather than persuading the undecided.

When rap mogul Jay Z announced a November 4 concert for Clinton in Ohio, her campaign had 10 days to ask fans to sign up for tickets through the candidate's website.

Jay Z came out in Cleveland with his wife, pop superstar Beyonce, as well as three other major names in hip-hop – J. Cole, Chance the Rapper and Big Sean.

Jay Z – who with Beyonce had strongly supported Obama, the first African American president – alluded to Clinton's historic role as potentially the first woman to lead the United States.

"Our soul is colorless and I want to grow up in a world where my daughter has no limitations," Jay Z said.

Without referring to Trump by name, Jay Z said the real estate tycoon was "not an evolved soul" and had weakened the United States through divisive remarks.

Trump denounces 'filthy' rap lyrics

Trump, in his final days of campaigning, has repeatedly lashed out at Beyonce and Jay Z, claiming at a rally Monday in North Carolina: "I get bigger crowds than they do" – a remark that Politifact has already called out as a falsehood.

Trump also took aim at the language by Jay Z, who like many rappers frequently uses profanity and did not edit his lyrics for the Clinton rally.

"Isn't it amazing that ... Jay Z and Beyonce use filthy language in the songs, using words that if I ever said those words, it would be the reinstitution of the electric chair, right?" Trump said.

Despite Trump's concern about profanity, one of his few musical backers, hard rocker Ted Nugent, also used unprintable words when he introduced the Republican at a rally Sunday in Michigan.

Nugent, who has previously called for the death of Clinton and Obama, grabbed his crotch on stage and quipped, "I've got your blue state right here, black and blue," referring to the color associated with the Democratic Party.

Trump, who has described undocumented Mexican immigrants as "rapists" and boasted of forcing himself on women, has faced complaints from a long list of stars including the Rolling Stones and Adele for playing their songs at rallies.

Trump, a former reality television host, has several backers in Hollywood, notably Clint Eastwood.

New approaches

Other stars who back Clinton include Katy Perry, who has lent her hit "Roar" for campaign advertisements and has spoken out on Twitter, where the pop diva has more followers than anyone else.

Glam pop singer Miley Cyrus has stumped door-to-door for Clinton among Virginia students, while indie rock favorites The National performed a free pro-Clinton concert in their native Cincinnati, Ohio.

In one novel approach that may reach millions, users of leading music streaming site Spotify opened the service to a non-partisan message from Obama urging them to vote.

And novelist Dave Eggers over the past month has led the "30 Days, 30 Songs" project in which artists release anti-Trump protest songs.

Contributors include electronica great Moby, who has said that Trump is "pretty close to being a psychopath." – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – We haven't heard too many details about the upcoming On The Job series, though we do have an idea about where the show, to be found on streaming service HOOQ, is headed. Now, the cast of the miniseries has been unveiled – with a juicy synopsis and many new clues about the 6-part series.

A first from HOOQ when it comes to original content, On The Job: The Series is co-produced by Reality Entertainment (On The Job's Erik Matti, and Dondon Monteverde) in partnership with Globe Studios.

What it's about

As previously revealed the series will follow the Philippine media and political scene. Here is the official synopsis straight from the media release:

"OTJ: The Series Season 1 follows the story of four people – SISOY, a corrupt local media man under the payroll of PEDRING, the treacherous father of the town's ruling political clan; PAM, a passionate and honest big network investigative journalist from Manila and ROMAN, a principled hired gun regularly brought out of prison to kill. Their paths cross when eight journalists from Sisoy's town are massacred by Roman’s group and buried without a trace a day before Christmas Eve.

"Pam jumps on the case just as Sisoy discovers his connection to Pedring won't help him find out what happened to his friends. Despite their differences, the two work together to untangle the web of lies, controversy and corruption in a media circus where the truth keeps eluding them.

Based on Erik Matti’s multi-award winning movie OTJ, or On The Job, the original series marks the first big production created exclusively for an online video service in the region."

The cast

 • Teroy Guzman plays Sisoy, 50-something media veteran
 • Nonoy Froilan plays Pedring, a politician
 • Bela Padilla is Pam, a journalist
 • Neil Ryan Sese is Roman, the hired gun

The release does not reveal all the various roles but does reveal other cast members: Christopher de Leon, Dominic Ochoa, Arjo Atayde, Jake Macapagal, Smokey Manaloto, Ria Atayde, Levi Ignacio, Renz Fernandez, Nhikzy Calma, Nafa Hilario Cruz.

Leo Martinez, who played the corrupt boss General Pacheco in the 2013 film, is all set to return and also attend the press conference.

Thailand, India and Indonesia are also getting OTJ, along with the Philippines. You can learn more about the service on HOOQ.tv.– Rappler.com

This time, the media world is in the spotlight, as the 6-part miniseries tackles a compelling new storyline that feels very relevant to the times.

In the new series, a Christmastime murder of a group of 8 journalists prompts a corrupt local media man to work with a Manila journalist in order to find out what really happened. And as in the film, we'll see that not everything is crystal clear or transparent.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the cast, unveiled in a press conference for the series Tuesday, November 8.

All photos by Martin San Diego/Rappler

Teroy Guzman as Sisoy, a media veteran with a secret

According to director Erik Matti, Sisoy, played by theater actor Teroy Guzman, is a journalist who writes stories that often side with a political clan. A release for the series says that Sisoy is on the payroll of local politician Pedring. His friends are killed in a gruesome murder, and he wants to find out what's behind this. He is also a radio commentator.

Bela Padillaas Pam, an investigative journalist who works for the La Paz newspaper

Pam is an investigative journalist who covers the killing of 8 journalists in the town where Sisoy lives. She will also seek help from Noel, who is now a politician after leaving the media industry.

Christopher de Leon as co-owner of the La Paz newspaper

In an interview with reporters, Christopher said he's looking forward to being part of the project. He also said that one of the reasons he took on the role was because of Erik Matti.

"Ako 'yung who fights for a balance [story]. Wala na nga objectivity nga dito but he has to be balanced, ang pagiging mamahayag," he said, adding that his character is a principled guy who wants to leave a good legacy.

(I'm the one who fights for balance [story]. There's no more objectivity here, but he has to be balanced, being in the media.)

"Sabi nga ni direk (As direk said), it's not going to be the usual Christopher de Leon character movie that you see on screen or TV. It's going to be different so I'm excited about that," he said.

Dominic Ochoa as Bernie, a son from a political clan

According to Erik Matti, Dominic's character is being groomed to potentially be president of the country.

"So imagine the burden on his side, to be the most honest-looking person and if you're keeping a secret, how difficult it is," said direk

Arjo Atayde as Noel, a former journalist, turned politician

Erik said that one of the main issues Arjo and Bela's characters will fight over is why he became a politician.

"He keeps on justifying saying that not everyone is dirty as you think. I mean there are people who want to make changes," he said.

Bela's character Pam doesn't believe him. But in her pursuit for the truth, she seeks Noel's help. Trivia: their characters are exes in the series.

Jake Macapagal as Natoy, the right hand man

According to Erik, Jake's character is a "scary" one – a middle man, like the character Vivian Velez played in 2013.

Renz Fernandez

We don't know much yet about this character, but we will see him in prison.

Smokey Manaloto

Smokey's character will be involved in the police force of the town, according to Erik. However, his character also facilitates for the governor of the town.

Leo Martinez as General Pacheco

The series will see the return of the corrupt General Pacheco, one of the villains in 2013's On The Job

"Nagpapasalamat ako kay Erik dahil binigyan niya ako ng role na sinasabi ng mga reviewers na I have knack for portraying irritating characters. Ako po ay irritating doon sa OTJ na original kaya nagpapasalamat ako kay Dondon [Montiverde] at Erik na ginawa nila ako uling irritating character," he said.

(I'm thankful to Erik because he gave me a role that as the reviewers said, I have a knack for portraying irritating characters. I was an irritating character in the original OTJ, so I'm thankful to Dondon and Erik for making me again an irritating character.)

Ria Atayde

Erik said that Ria's character will be part of the family of Sisoy and she will have two other siblings in the show. She is the responsible child who takes on more duties after their mom dies.

Nafa Hilario Cruz

Details of Nafa's character have yet to be revealed but she told the press that her greatest challenge in the show was to push herself to perform in the league of the other actors. She recently appeared in the movie Patintero.

Levi Ignacio

Details of his character have also yet to be revealed, but Erik Matti said he's been wanting to work with him for quite some time.

Other cast members but were named but were absent at the press conference include Nonoy Froilan who plays Pedring, a powerful politician and Neil Ryan Sese who plays Roman, a hired killer whose group kills the 8 journalists.

Prince Harry slams 'abuse' of actress girlfriend Meghan Markle

LONDON, United Kingdom – Britain's Prince Harry confirmed Tuesday, November 8, he is dating US actress Meghan Markle as he blasted the racist "wave of abuse and harassment" directed towards her since their relationship began.

In what Kensington Palace admitted was an "unusual" statement, the prince, 32, urged media to refrain from "further damage" as he hit out at the "racial undertones" of newspaper coverage.

Harry also took issue with the "outright racism and sexism" on social media directed against mixed-race Californian television actress Markle, 35, best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the US TV drama Suits.

"The past week has seen a line crossed," said the statement from Harry's communications secretary Jason Knauf.

"His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment.

"Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm.

"He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that 'this is all part of the game'. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his."

Kensington Palace has issued a statement this morning about the harassment currently being experienced by Meghan Markle and her family. pic.twitter.com/EuFZ4fmUIj
— Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) November 8, 2016

{/source}

Markle's mother is black and her father is white.

'Nightly legal battles'

A grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, Harry is fifth in line to the throne behind his father Prince Charles, brother Prince William, and William's children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

He spent a decade in the British army, serving on two tours of Afghanistan.

Since leaving the military in June last year, he has focused on the Invictus Games, a Paralympics-style sports event he founded for wounded service personnel.

The Sunday Express newspaper reported that the prince met Markle in May while promoting the Toronto 2017 event.

The statement said Harry knew he led a privileged life and felt lucky to have warm public support.

While aware of curiosity about his private life, "he has never been comfortable with this, but he has tried to develop a thick skin about the level of media interest," the statement said.

In 2012, royal officials complained to press regulators after pictures emerged of Harry partying naked in a Las Vegas hotel room.

But Kensington Palace on Tuesday said Harry had rarely taken formal action over "fictional stories" and had tried to develop a "professional relationship" with the media, focused on his work.

However, recent coverage had gone too far, the statement said, citing "the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments".

It also said there had been "nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers".

Reporters and photographers have attempted to gain "illegal entry" to Markle's home, while her ex-boyfriend had been offered "substantial bribes" by newspapers and "nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life" had been living under "bombardment", said Knauf.

In a front-page story in The Sun last week, Markle's sister called her "shallow".

Intrusion unease post-Diana

Both Harry and William, 34, are acutely sensitive about media intrusion.

Their mother Diana, princess of Wales, who had a stormy relationship with the media, died aged 36 in a car crash in Paris in 1997 while being chased by photographers.

Normally the palaces do not comment on the royals' private lives and Tuesday's statement was the first confirmation that Harry has been in a relationship for several months.

"He has asked for this statement to be issued in the hopes that those in the press who have been driving this story can pause and reflect before any further damage is done," said Knauf.

Kensington Palace did not comment when Harry split with socialite Cressida Bonas in 2014, or when William split with Kate – now his wife – in 2007.

Harry previously had a 7-year, on-off relationship with Chelsy Davy, the daughter of a Zimbabwe safari operator, between 2004 and 2011. – Rappler.com

Yes, I am voting for the former First Lady of Arkansas who championed a program (HIPPY) which sent teachers into the homes of underprivileged families to train parents in school preparedness and literacy, a program which became a model for other states. Yes, I am voting for the former First Lady who, in 1995, when it was insanely unpopular to express feminist views, stood in front of the world and said in that particular, driven Midwestern lilt of hers “Human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights.” [Now in 2016, we say "(duh) yeah" and we feel entitled to that attitude in no small part because of the truth expressed by a brave woman in power.] Yes, I am voting for the former senator from NY who worked across party lines to get first responders the support they needed long after the towers fell on that tragic day. And Yes, I am voting for the former Secretary of State who was in the room when the particular terror of Osama Bin Laden was finally, finally silenced. Although Swift – who performed at the 2008 Republican convention but generally stays out of politics – encouraged voters to come to the polls, she did not reveal her own choice.

Katy Perry, often seen as Swift's rival, is Clinton's self-described "number one fan." On Election Day, she posted repeatedly on Twitter, where she has nearly 94 million followers, more than anyone else.

In one video, Perry appears with a fluffy little dog asking voters to head the polls.

MANILA, Philippines – Donald J. Trump is the United States' president-elect, the victor in a heated and tense election that has also dominated global headlines. In the entertainment world that has overwhelmingly supported his opponent Hillary Clinton, the reactions range from shock and disbelief to a firm resolve to work harder for the people of the United States. (READ: Stars react as US elections results roll in)

One of the strongest reactions to the Trump victory came from actor Chris Evans, best known for his role as Captain America in the Marvel films. Seeming just as impassioned as Cap, Chris Evans said he was "devastated" as he took to Twitter to react to the Trump win.

{source}

This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. Pretty Little Liars star Keegan Allen referenced Trump's controversial leaked comments in his reaction. Released in October, Trump's comments bragging about groping women with impunity were roundly condemned as hateful and misogynstic.

MANILA, Philippines – An emotional Miley Cyrus shed tears in a video she posted following the news of Donald Trump's presidential win.

After Trump's win on Wednesday, November 9, Miley took to social media to express her thoughts and feelings on the results of the election. (READ: 'Do not weep:' Stars tweet after Donald Trump win)

Miley was one of the stars who supported Hillary during the campaign season, urging people to vote for her and posting photos of the former secretary of state on social media.

In a video on her verified Facebook page, a tearful Miley tried to control herself as she delivered her message.

"So, probably like most people – well, maybe not, because given the result – maybe I really am different and maybe a lot of people that I’m surrounded by think with open minds and open hearts like I do," she said.

"And do I want to say that I've been very vocal for my support for everyone asides Donald Trump. [I] heavily supported Bernie [Sanders], I heavily supported Hillary, and I still think that in her lifetime, she deserves to be the first female president. And that's what makes me so sad.

"I wish she had an opportunity because she fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country. This is all she’s ever done; she’s given her life to make it better,” Miley said.

Miley added that she's accepting Donald as president because she wants to be hopeful. She also thanked President Barack Obama for his service to the country, and spoke about people treating each other with love, compassion, and respect.

Watch the video above to hear all of what Miley had to say.

On Instagram, Miley wrote: "If we want Donald Trump to accept us, we must be accepting towards his presidency and his promise to 'unify' our country and 'make America great.' I leave out the 'again' because this country has never been able to live up to its full potential because we've been putting up our own divided walls between each other. We don't need Trump to do that for us.

"So WE must take a hammer to the bricks WE built up and be more LOVING and compassionate towards all living things! (including the planet) (p.s. Mr. Elected president... Global warming IS real. ACCEPT THAT.)"

During her speech after the election results, Hillary said that she offered to work with Donald and wished him well as he takes on the presidency in January. She also thanked everyone who campaigned for her.

"This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for and I'm sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country," she said.

"This is painful, and it will be for a long time, but I want you to remember this: our campaign was never about one person or even one election." – With reports from Agence France-Presse/Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – Angelina Jolie has released a statement following the news that her estranged husband Brad Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations.

TMZ reported that the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has cleared Brad of the allegations, which were over an incident in September between him and his son Maddox.

In a statement to TMZ, Angelina's representative said: "Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal."

It was reported in September that Brad screamed and "got physical" with Maddox on a private plane, which is believed to be one of the reasons Angelina filed for divorce.

Angelina's rep also confirmed that a legal agreement is in place between the two parties. Angelina currently has primary custody of all the children, while Brad has visitation rights.

It was reported in October that the estranged couple had reached a temporary agreement regarding the custody of their kids, wherein Angelina would have physical custody while Brad would be able to visit under the supervision of a therapist. This agreement ended on October 20.

Brad and Angelina were married for two years, but have been together since 2004. They have 6 kids together, 3 of whom are adopted. – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – Benedit Cumberbatch is now known to play Marvel's Doctor Strange in their newest superhero movie release – but that isn't the only role he played in the movie, according to director Scott Derrickson.

In an interview with Empire, Scott revealed that Benedict also played a bad guy on Doctor Strange.

Mads Mikkelsen may have played the sorcerer Kaecilius, but Benedict voiced and provided facial capture for the demon of the Dark Dimension, Dormammu.

It was Benedict's idea, said Scott, to voice the demon that Doctor Strange would eventually face in the film.

"The reason for that [Benedict playing Dormammu] was threefold," Scott told Empire. "One, Benedict suggested it. [Two], the awesomeness of his voice – he was Smaug, of course. [Three,] he understood exactly who Dormammu was. He's the ultimate cosmic narcissist. There was something great about the mirrored relationship between the two of them."

Benedict played the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit films.

Richard Gomez to sue Albuera cop who linked him to drug group

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Actor and Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez said on Thursday, November 10, he is set to file a case against Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, the police chief of Albuera town in Leyte who reportedly linked him to a drug syndicate.

He initially dismissed the allegation as “ridiculous and outright laughable,” but later in the day attributed to politics the attempt to connect him to the illegal drugs syndicate of Kerwin Espinosa.

On Thursday, the Senate conducted a hearing on the deaths of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr and fellow Leyte sub-provincial jail inmate Raul Yap, where lawmakers found a number of loopholes in the policemen's account of a shootout.

During the hearing, Chief Inspector Leo Laraga – who led the operation on behalf of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Eastern Visayas against Espinosa and Yap – claimed that the mayor himself had named the following as cohorts in the drug operations of his son Kerwin Espinosa:

 • Gomez
 • Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla
 • Baybay City Vice Mayor Michael Cari
 • Leyte 3rd District Representative Ching Veloso

“I also remembered that I heard it from Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido during the case conference doon sa bulwagan (in the conference hall). Sinabi niya rin po 'yun. Sinabi niya mga pangalan na sinabi ko na binanggit ni Mayor, Laraga said. (He also said that. He mentioned the names that I said were mentioned by the Mayor.)

Espinosa is the father of alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, who is now in jail in Abu Dhabi. A month before his death, Mayor Espinosa gave the police a "supplemental affidavit" – a list of personalities on his son Kerwin’s payroll. While he admitted knowing about his son’s illegal drugs operations, he denied having benefited from it.

Gomez was not on Espinosa's list.

The actor-turned-mayor said he didn't know the Espinosas. "I dont know them and their political leanings. I have never met them and have never spoken to them,” Gomez said in a text message to Rappler.

Governor Petilla and congressman Veloso have also denied the police's allegations.

In a statement on Facebook on Thursday evening, Gomez said: “I have asked my lawyers to file a case against Major Jovie Espenido, a cop beholden to my political opponents, who has attempted many times to besmirch my name. It is unfortunate that he was assigned to Albuera, Leyte, giving him control over the late Mayor Espinosa, whom I am sure he prevailed upon to impute my character and those of other equally innocent officials.”

In the May 2016 elections, Gomez, who ran under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, defeated Ondo Codilla of the Liberal Party, a member of an old political clan in the province, and independent candidate Joemar Gallardo.

“I have had to deal with all sorts of controversy and sometimes-bad publicity, but this is the first time that my name has been dragged into an issue involving drugs. I initially did not want to dignify this with an answer but given that this is politically-motivated and very malicious, I am speaking up,” the actor said in his post.

“I have been an anti-drug advocate all my life. I spearheaded a massive anti-drug campaign back in the ’90's, way before it became a fad, before most everyone wanted to join the bandwagon. I am sorry to disappoint my political opponents, but I have never been and I will never be involved in drugs and no one can pin me down on an accusation so baseless and ridiculous it is almost laughable,” Gomez said.

Read the full statement here:

{source}{/source}

Gomez said that he ran on an anti-drug platform and even supported President Rodrigo Duterte during the campaign.

“To fight drugs and bring change is the reason I ran, and because the people saw how serious I was about it is the reason I won. Do not drag me into this circus. I was never part of it. I will never be part of it. I urge the legislators to dig deeper into this. Someone is trying to muddle the issue,” he said.

Mayor’s Espinosa’s affidavit, however, reportedly named as Kerwin’s protectors at least two persons with connections to Gomez. They are recently-elected 4th District Board Member Matt Torres, sister of Gomez’s wife Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez, and a certain PO3 Francisco Oliva, an Ormoc City cop supposedly assigned as Torres-Gomez’s bodyguard. Rappler.com

CORDIAL GREETING. Jessy Mendiola says she's not closing the door on her and Angel Locsin being friends. Photos by Rob Reyes/Rappler

MANILA, Philippines – Jessy Mendiola, who is currently seeing Luis Manzano, says she is open to being friends with his ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin.

In an interview with reporters after a Banana Sundae press conference on Thursday, November 10, Jessy was asked if there was a chance she and Angel could be good friends.

The question was brought up, because it was reported that Angel and Jennylyn Mercado, both former girlfriends of Luis, have followed each other on Instagram.

Jessy answered, "Siguro in time. Panahon din naman iyon eh. Sila kasi I’m sure, matagal naman rin yung gap nung pagiging friends."

(I guess in time. That's also in the timing. For them, I'm sure, there was also a long gap before they became friends.)

Jessy added: "I’m not saying na [we can be] chummy na friends pero diba panahon lang 'yan? Para sa akin talaga kung saan siya [Angel] masaya, okay. Kung saan ako masaya, iyon. May mga kanya-kanya kaming buhay.

(I'm not saying we would be chummy friends time will tell, right? For me, where she's happy, okay. Where I'm happy, that's that. We each have our own lives.)

"It’s such a waste of energy kung palagi na lang tayo nagagalit sa isa’t isa para sa wala or paulit-ulit na lang tayong lahat."

(It's such a waste for energy if we're always angry at each other over nothing or if we just keep repeating everything.)

Jessy also said that there's no point in talking about the issue between her and Angel, since Angel seems happy.

"I mean blooming naman siya ngayon. So ano pang sense kung bakit kailangan pa natin i-push yung issue?"

(I mean, she looks like she's blooming now. So where's the sence of pushing the issue?)

Jessy added that if she and Angel would greet each other if they do see each other, and that she's open to welcoming the actress if she appears on Banana Sundae, the variety show that Jessy is a part of.

On the possibility of working together, Jessy answered, "Di ko alam kung posible. Di ko sure." (I don't know if that's possible. I'm not sure.)

Last July, Angel said in a TV Patrol interview that she would rather not comment on Luis and Jessy's relationship, since she had nothing good to say, and therefore preferred to keep quiet.

“Ito, reaction ko. Nandoon na sila sa ganoong buhay. Kung ini-enjoy nila yung moment na yun, e, di good job! Wala akong magandang masabi, so hindi nalang ako magsasalita," said Angel.

(This, this is my reaction. They're there, at that moment in life. If they're enjoying that moment, then good job! I have nothing nice to say, so I won't say anything.)

People have speculated that Jessy was the reason for Angel and Luis' breakup, but Jessy has denied the accusation, saying it would be better for the former couple to fix the issues between them.

On Luis, criticism

As for Luis, Jessy said that she's very much happy being with him. The two have remained quiet to the real status of their relationship.

"Okay naman po. Masaya naman po (We're okay. We're happy). Peaceful."

When asked if she and Luis will post more sweet photos together on social media, Jessy simply said to watch out. She recently posted a photo of them together, where Luis' arm was around her.

As for the criticism against her on social media, Jessy said she has gotten used to it but still gets annoyed.

"Napipikon minsan, pero sa dami-dami ba naman, lagi ba akong mapipikonE, di napagod ako. Sayang yung energyIbibigay ko na lang sa pagiging masaya yung energy na yun," she said.

(I still get annoyed, but with so much of it, should I always be annoyed? If I do, then I will get tired. The energy is wasted. I'll just use that energy for being happy.)

Last June, Luis confirmed he and Jessy were "going out." The two attended the Star Magic Ball together last October. – Rappler.com

NEW YORK, USA – Leonard Cohen, the storied musician and poet hailed as one of the most visionary artists of his generation, has died at age 82, his publicist announced on Thursday, November 10.

"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries," read a statement on Cohen's Facebook page.

{source}{/source}

Cohen, who was brought up in Montreal but lived in California late in his life, will have a private memorial service at a later date, the statement said.

"Leonard Cohen was an unparalleled artist whose stunning body of original work has been embraced by generations of fans and artists alike," his label Sony Music said in a statement.

Cohen began as a poet before branching out into music – reluctantly at first – writing some of his generation's most reflective songs, including the oft-covered spiritual "Hallelujah."

He released his final album, You Want It Darker, just last month, featuring Cohen reflecting at length on his own mortality.

Cohen was preceded in death in July by Marianne Ihlen, the Norwegian woman with whom he lived on the Greek island of Hydra and who inspired his song "So Long, Marianne."

In a final letter to Ihlen revealed by a friend, Cohen declared his "endless love" for her, writing, "I think I will follow you very soon." – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – Jennifer Lawrence has spoken up following the loss of her preferred US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. ('Do not weep:' Stars tweet after Donald Trump win)

On Thursday, November 10, a few days after Donald Trump was announced president-elect of the US, Lawrence published an open letter through Vice.

"Is this the stark reality? It doesn't matter how hard you work or how qualified you are, at the end of the day, if you're not a man? Is that what we just learned?" started Lawrence. "This country was founded on immigration and today the only people that feel safe, that their rights are recognized and respected are white men."

The Oscar-winning actress went on to write about racial, religious, and sexist discrimination in light of a Trump presidency, and encouraged her readers to fight against it.

Trump's campaign was riddled with controversial comments on minorities, immigrants, women, and gold star families, among others.

"If you're worried about the health of our planet, find out everything you can about how to protect it. If you're worried about racial violence love your neighbor more than you've ever tried to before – no matter what they believe or who they voted for. If you're afraid of a wall putting us all into another recession then organize and stand against it," she continued.

"If you're a woman and you're worried that no matter how hard you work or how much you learn, there will always be a glass ceiling, then I don't really know what to say. I don't know what I would tell my daughter if I were you. Except to have hope. To work for the future."

Lawrence called on her readers to educate themselves and work hard, adding that as with Clinton's run for presidency, their efforts may not work.

"But like Hillary, you can still be an inspiration and get important things done," ended Lawrence. "Do not let this defeat you—let this enrage you! Let it motivate you! Let this be the fire you didn't have before. If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of color, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman—don't be afraid, be loud!"

Aside from Lawrence, many other stars, including Chris Evans, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus have reacted to the election results. While some gave messages of hope, others expressed anger or disappointment, or like Lady Gaga, took to the streets to protest. – Rappler.com

IT'S OVER! Samantha Bee dreams up the perfect post-elections day. Screengrab from YouTube/Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

MANILA, Philippines – What would the perfect post-election day be like? For comedian Samantha Bee, it involves jumping out of bed and celebrating with everyone she sees.

Sam released a video titled "A Beautiful, Faraway Dream" on Thursday, November 9, and it featured her waking up on November 9 in a great mood.

But after a series of high-fives, selfies, joyful jumping, and piggyback rides with Katie Couric, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and many more, Sam wakes up again with a jolt – "Oh no!" she says.

"Unfortunately, you are awake and this is real," the video description says.

The video makes no mention of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, but Sam has been a vocal supporter of Hillary throughout the campaign season.

In her post-election monologue, Sam said: “In the coming days, people will be looking for someone to blame – the pollsters, the strident feminists, the Democratic party, a vengeful god. But once you dust for fingerprints, it’s pretty clear who ruined America – white people. I guess ruining Brooklyn was just a dry run.

"The caucasian nation showed up in droves to vote for Trump. So I don’t want to hear a goddamn word about black voter turnout. How many times do we expect black people to build our country for us?"

MANILA, Philippines – Two days after Donald Trump became president-elect of the United States, a number of Hollywood stars expressed their sentiments over his win. ('Do not weep:' Stars tweet after Donald Trump win)

Ellen DeGeneres, who supported Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, gave her audience a message of hope on Thursday, November 10, along with a couple of laughs in between.

"You may have heard that there was a presidential election on Tuesday, the big winner was alcohol. A lot of alcohol," she started, to the cheers of her audience.

"Obviously, a lot of people were disappointed by the results. My job is to be hopeful and to make everybody feel good. And I’m gonna keep doing that for as long as I can.”

Later, she quoted one of the most famous first ladies of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt: "At times like this, it’s important to remember what Eleanor Roosevelt said: ‘It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.’ And I think that's a beautiful thing."

DeGeneres also quote Kanye West's "Guilt Trip" to ease the tension: "Pour a little champagne, cranberry vodka."

Later, she showed a clip from the documentary Planet Earth 2, where a baby iguana escapes a number of iguana-eating snakes on the beach.

She told the audience after the video: "The snakes may be the fact that you don’t feel heard. Or no one's on your side. Or that you don’t like what’s on the Starbucks holiday cups this year.

"No matter what your snake is, there is hope for your little iguana.”

Before her monologue, Ellen thanked Clinton via Twitter: "Thank you [Hillary Clinton] for your speech and for your endless bravery. We are stronger together."

Kris Aquino to Duterte after interview no-show: Give me a chance

DISAPPOINTED. TV personality Kris Aquino forges on with hosting a business summit despite the absence of President Duterte. Screenshot from RTVM

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Television personality Kris Aquino was open about her disappointment after President Rodrigo Duterte was unable to attend a business summit and one-on-one interview with her in Davao City.

An emotional Aquino, onstage for the Go Negosyo summit said: "Hindi ko rin po alam kung dahil sa mga sitwasyon na nangyari sa ngayong linggo kaya inisnub ako. Pero President Duterte, please give me a chance. I hope one day, mamahalin mo rin ako."

(I don't know if the events this week explain why I was snubbed. But President Duterte, please give me a chance. I hope one day, you will love me too.)

Before she came onstage, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez announced to the audience of around 500 entrepreneurs that Duterte would not be able to attend the summit because of a migraine.

Lopez explained that this might have been due to the visits to the President's visits to Malaysia and Thailand. Duterte arrived from Malaysia in the wee hours of Friday and even held a news briefing after.

The one-on-one interview between Duterte and Aquino was supposed to take place during the summit. It was meant to be her television comeback after a 7-month hiatus.

Aquino, however, expressed optimism that the interview would still take place in the future and still managed to make light of the situation.

"Minsan, ang first date hindi natutuloy. President Duterte, pinaghandaan kita...26 na lang ang bewang ko ngayon. Sisiguraduhin ko pong magiging 25 para sa next time na pagkikita natin," she joked.

(Sometimes, the first date does not push through. President Duterte, I prepared for you...My waist is now just 26. I will make sure it will be 25 in our next meeting.)

Advice from Kuya Noy

Aquino shared that in her distress at hearing about Duterte's non-attendance, she called her older brother, former president Benigno Aquino III, for advice.

"Nagtanong po ako sa Kuya ko kung dapat kong ituloy. Tumawag ako, sinabi ko 'Noy, I'm alone,' sabi ko. Sabi ko sa kanya, 'What do I do?'" she said.

(I asked my brother if I should still push through with this. I called and said, 'Noy, I'm alone.' I said, 'What do I do?')

To which the older Aquino advised her to forge on because she had made a commitment to Go Negosyo.

"'Nandiyan ka because you believe in the Philippine economy at nandiyan ka because you want everybody to be included in the growth of our economy.' So ituloy po natin ito di ba?" said Aquino, bravely rousing the crowd.

('You are there because you believe in the Philippine economy and you are there because you want everybody to be included in the growth of our economy.' So let's carry on, right?)

The TV host then proceeded to host the summit. Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III stood in for Duterte.

'Epic snub'

Kris later took to Instagram to address the situation, first posting photos of her trip to Davao and captioning them "#GandangDiNapakinabangan" (beauty that wasn't used to its full potential) along with a laughing emoji.

On November 12, Kris called the incident an "epic snub," but her comment came with a photo that read, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

She also thanked her friends, family, and fans online for their support.

Prior to the Go Negosyo summit, Kris had posted photos of the messages of support she received from Vice President Leni Robredo and young actress Nadine Lustre. Aside from these messages, Kris' good friend Boy Abunda was in Davao to support her as well.
