MANILA, Philippines – Bretman Rock rose to Internet stardom in less than a year, and is quickly becoming a star in the Philippines too.

Bretman, originally from Ilocos before he moved to Hawaii, started out posting his hilarious Snapchat videos onto his Instagram account for his friends to watch.

Soon, he started posting makeup videos on Instagram too, and on his YouTube channel, entertaining and educating people with his brand of comedy.

Like many of us nowadays, Bretman learned how to do makeup through YouTube tutorials, and admitted that he never took it seriously until June of 2015. But the 16-year-old's transformations has had his followers loving his on fleek brows and fierce contouring.

When Rappler caught up with Bretman during his contract signing with ABS-CBN's Chicken Pork Adobo network, he spoke to us about his makeup routines and his natural confidence.

Here's what he said:

Be creative – even when you make mistakes

Bretman's first encounter with makeup was an accident we've all experienced at one point or another – he overplucked his eyebrows when he was in 3rd grade.

"I know, everyone says, 'Worst mistake,'" said Bretman as he recounted the experience. "That's like, where my eyebrows were literally divorced."

He didn't have as many resources as he does today – Bretman receives products from brands like Benefit and Morphe – but he made do: "I was like, 'Oh my God, what am I gonna do with this, I can't go to school looking like a mess,' so I was like, I went through my mom's bag, and I used like mascara to fill in my eyebrows."

"I looked a mess," he admitted, but brushed it off.

Fill in your eyebrows

Bretman's learned a thing or two since 3rd grade, as his eyebrows have always looked full in his recent photos and videos. Among the makeup products he can't live without – Anastasia Beverly Hills' brow pomade.

In the video above, he details, with his usual brand of humor, how exactly he gets his eyebrows looking the way they do.

Don't cake on the foundation

Another makeup product he can't live without is a light foundation. Bretman recommended Nars Luminous Weightless Foundation for everyday, but he does use other products too. In he video above, he's using Mac's Pro Longwear.

Make your makeup last

To keep his makeup lasting all day, Bretman uses a setting spray, Urban Decay's in particular.

"Girl, that will keep your makeup on, my goodness. Like, I could go swimming and have that on," said Bretman.

If you have a hard time getting your hands on Urban Decay, other brands have setting sprays available too, like MAC and Nyx.

A strong contour

A quick scroll through his Instagram will tell you that everytime Bretman does his makeup, his contour and highlight game is always strong.

"I like contouring my face, 'cos my face is like narrow and stuff, so I don't like looking 2-D," Bretman explained. "Like, I like to look like I have cheekbones, but I don't."

In his videos, Bretman does a trick called "baking" where a you layer powder on the highlighted portions of your face – your cheekbones, underneath your cheek contour, center of your forehead, down the bridge of your nose, and your chin.

Leave the powder to set for a few minutes before brushing it off to reveal a smooth, glowing finish. This method was already popular before it made its way to the mainstream through celebrities like Kim Kardashian and YouTube beauty gurus like Wayne Goss.

Even if Bretman doesn't wear a full face of makeup to school everyday, he does keep most of what he puts on his face all day. When he's training with the track team after school, he'll keep his eye makeup on.

"I go home, take off like my foundation and stuff and my eyebrows, and then I leave like my mascara and liquid [eyeliner]," he shared.

He explained further: "I feel like if I look cute, then I'll run really good. That goes for everyone, if you're looking cute, then you know that you're gonna do good. I need to have like at least my mascara on or at least my eyebrows filled in if I wanna go to practice."

Being confident

Bretman said that everyone thinks he's being "maarte" (fussy) for wanting to have makeup on during practice, but he doesn't let that bother him. "Like um, I don't wanna be ugly, girl, I don't wanna be ugly. You don't know, what if there's like, paparazzi at practice? I wanna look cute!" he joked.

On a more serious note, Bretman said it shouldn't get to you what people think. "Get over it, like it's inevitable, everyone gets called arte, even if you're not arte, you get called arte, so it's like, everyone. It doesn't matter, don't mind them."

Not minding critics is something Bretman has to do all the time, as he gets worse comments than "maarte" on his social media posts.

During the press conference for his contract signing, Bretman also gave a short message for those people who are struggling with their confidence: "Do not ever let anyone tell you you aren't worth something, because the only thing that should matter is how you feel that you are worth."

"All these bashers, they don't care about you," he continued later. "They'll hate you for like, that one minute, but they don't really care, they're just doing it because they're bored and they don't have anything better to do with their life. Don't ever let anyone tell you the person that you are, because at the end of the day, you're the only person that really knows who you are."

Bretman is in Manila until March 17, when he'll fly back to Hawaii and get back to school.

Cristalle is the daughter of celebrity cosmetic surgeon and entrepreneur Vicki Belo.

On March 10, Rappler caught up with the couple at the launch of Belo Medical Group's Fotona Nightlase, a new treatment for snoring.

Justin and Cristalle shared that they're set to get married on September 15 at Lake Como in Italy.

The location was chosen because of Justin's love of Italy and fine wines.

"So I'm a big fan of Italy to start with, and then Tuscany is obviously where all the good wine comes from Italy, so that was the inital goal, but we came to a compromise," explained Justin.

"Lake Como was the most beautiful part of Italy, and they also have great food and wine. So it's a nice place to stage a beautiful wedding."

Although the big celebration will be held in Italy, Justin and Cristalle will also have a civil ceremony in the Philippines.

Cristalle is also already sure about her gown's designer: Inbal Dror, from Israel. "She's very good, and I love her style, it's mostly lace," she said.

Aside from those details, Justin shared that they're about to lock down the caterers for their big night: "It's going to be quite the night, we're looking forward to it."

"We put a lot of planning, a lot of time and effort into it so far, I'm looking forward to just enjoying the day, and to just be with family and friends and just having a really great celebration of love," Justin added.

The bride-to-be expressed her excitement, too. However, she added, "It's just coming nearer and nearer, and you just get a little bit more nervous, especially because it's... gonna be happening one day in your life, so you have an idea in your head and you want it to be as perfect as possible, so there's a lot of pressure in that."

On the subject of having kids in the future, Justin said, "I mean, I'm getting older, and Cristalle's in her 30s, so it's something that we're gonna tackle straight away," he said.

Justin proposed to Cristalle at the Maldives in September, 2015.

Cristalle is Vicki's daughter with businessman Atom Henares and is the sister of director Quark Henares. She works with Intelligent Skin Care, Inc, the company behind Belo Essentials. – Rappler.com

Ariana Grande pulls off Jennifer Lawrence impression in 'SNL' skit

MANILA, Philippines – Ariana Grande showed how she could be a master of impressions on Saturday Night Live, and busted out her comedic chops during the episode that she hosted on March 12.

Once a Nickelodeon star and Broadway actress, Ariana mimicked several celebrities. She sang as Britney Spears, Shakira, Rihanna, and more in aTidal skit, and she also pretended to be Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence in a Celebrity Family Feud actors-versus-directors game.

Sporting a blonde wig, Ariana pulled off a spot-on impression of J-Law, with her trademark raspy voice, and said, "They told me not to do a game show, but I was like, screw it. I can have fun. I'm a regular person."

She went against Quentin Tarantino (Taran Killam), as she answered host Steve Harvey (Kenan Thompson)'s question, "Name a bad habit that you just can’t quit."

"I’m just like a snack-oholic. I love Pringles. If no one is looking, I’ll eat like a whole can. Like, every day is my cheat day – you know what I mean," said Ariana as Jennifer, prompting Steve to respond, "How annoyingly relatable."

Fortunately, the songstress wins her round with 45% of the survey respondents agreeing.

Kate McKinnon as Tilda Swinton, Beck Bennett as Javier Bardem, and Jay Pharaoh as Idris Elba join Ariana on the actors' team. On the directors' side, there are SNL cast members Taran Killam as Tarantino, Bobby Moynihan as Kevin Smith, Kyle Mooney as Woody Allen, and Jon Rudnitsky as Martin Scorsese.

Surprise Kendrick Lamar album debuts at number 1

NEW YORK, USA – A surprise new album by Kendrick Lamar opened Sunday at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the latest triumph for the critically acclaimed rapper.

The album – the 4th by the 28-year-old, entitled untitled unmastered – sold 178,000 copies or the equivalent in streaming in the United States in the week through Thursday, Nielsen Music said.

Lamar released untitled unmastered without previous notice on March 4 in the wake of the Grammys, where he was the music industry gala's biggest winner with five awards.

He characterized the album as a series of rough works from the studio, although the songs take on heavy themes including an opening track that mixes images of the biblical apocalypse and contemporary social ills.

Lamar also went to number one in 2015 with To Pimp a Butterfly, a reflective look at the state of black America that experimented with jazz elements, which are also apparent on untitled unmastered.

The latest album hit number one despite the lack of a physical release. A CD came out on Friday, seven days after the digital version and too late to be considered for the first-week chart.

Discrepancies between digital and physical release dates, which once enraged record stores, have become increasingly commonplace as the popularity of streaming transforms the music industry.

Rap superstar Kanye West has said he has no plans to release a physical version of his latest work, The Life of Pablo, and vowed to stream three new albums per year. – Rappler.com

Ariana Grande is spot-on as Britney Spears, Rihanna, Whitney Houston in 'SNL' skit

MANILA, Philippines – Ariana Grande showed off her powerful pipes once again in doing spot-on impressions of other pop stars. (WATCH: Ariana Grande does amazing impressions of Britney, Christina, Celine)

In a skit for Saturday Night Live (SNL), Ariana plays a wide-eyed intern named Chloe who works for streaming app Tidal's headquarters. Suddenly, systems break down, and its up to Chloe to save the day.

"Tidal cannot afford another glitch! What do we do!?" says a panicking supervisor played by Kenan Thompson, as the Britney Spears stream goes down.

Bobby Moynihan, playing an employee, says, "Sir, I heard Chloe the intern singing some Britney Spears in the hallway."

"Chloe, the future of Tidal is in your hands!" says Kenan, before Ariana busts out her spot-on Britney impression, singing "Baby One More Time."

However, a succession of glitches occurs. The Shakira stream fails, and the Tidal staff asks Chloe for help once again, mistaking her to be of Hispanic descent.

"That's a common mistake, I'm actually just very, very Italian," says Ariana as Chloe, before trying her hand at a sultry rendition of Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever," complete with hip shaking. The staff even boogies along.

In a meta moment, the Ariana Grande stream fails, too. Chloe comments, "Sorry, not a big fan."

When the Rihanna stream fails, Chloe steps up with a bit of grinding as she sings "Work."

The control room rejoices, but not for long: "I got bad news, boss. The '90s Divas playlist is glitching!"

But Chloe saves everyone's behinds, doing a hilarious but accurate mimicry of Celine Dion singing "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." She even blurts out, "Shall we go for it," in a French-Canadian accent à la Celine.

Ariana shines through with her Whitney Houston impersonation, slaying it with her take on "I Will Always Love You." The streams come back on with Ariana hitting the power ballad's high notes. (WATCH: Ariana Grande sings Whitney Houston song in Manila concert)

"You did it, Chloe. Jay-Z would be proud," says the supervisor, as an employee, played by Jay Pharaoh, reveals himself to be Jay-Z in disguise.

"Yo, Chloe, you single-handedly just saved Tidal." says Jay-Z, before barking orders at Chloe to pick up coffees, as any stereotypical intern would.

Radiohead announces world tour amid album build-up

NEW YORK, USA – Radiohead announced Monday concerts in 6 cities around the world as speculation builds for the experimental rockers' much-anticipated but unannounced ninth album.

The band said it would play from May 20 to October 4 at major arenas in Amsterdam, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles and Mexico City, with two shows in each city except London, where Radiohead will play three.

The British rockers were already announced as headliners for 8 festivals including Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Summer Sonic in Japan and the European edition of Lollapalooza in Berlin.

"These are all the headline shows that the band will play in 2016," the band said in a statement Monday.

Radiohead, which has continually sought new ways to release music, has not revealed any details of the next album other than to confirm that the band has been in the studio.

Primavera Sound, when announcing its lineup in January, said in a press release that Radiohead would be presenting its new album at the festival but later revised the wording.

The new studio album would be Radiohead's first since 2011's King of the Limbs, which played wildly with traditional song structure by using as a base a loop of music that the band had previously recorded.

Radiohead has sold more than 30 million albums since emerging in the heyday of alternative rock in the early 1990s.

But the band soon swapped guitar rock for more electronic and experimental sounds starting with 1997's influential album OK Computer.

Radiohead has not performed live since 2012, although frontman Thom Yorke has played a series of solo shows including Saturday at Britain's electronic Bloc festival which organizers are ending after a 10-year run.

Yorke in 2014 released a second solo album, Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, which is dominated by electronic rifts and reflections on the role of the individual in industrial society.

Radiohead on Christmas Day released a song that the band recorded for the latest James Bond movie Spectre that the filmmakers ultimately did not use. – Rappler.com

Jessy Mendiola on life post-breakup, on-screen partner JC de Vera

AFTER THE STORM. Jessy Mendiola says after last year's controversies, she is now happy and doing much better. Photo by Alecs Ongcal/Rappler

MANILA, Philippines – Jessy Mendiola said that as much as possible, she would rather not talk about ex-boyfriend JM de Guzman.

"Huwag na lang natin pag-usapan kasi nanahimik na siya. Kumbaga huwag na, sasabihin na naman akong user... may magba-bash na naman," Jessy told reporters after the press conference for the finale of You're My Home on Monday, March 14.

(I would rather not talk about him because he's already quiet about it. In other words, people again will say I'm a user, they'll bash me again for mentioning his name.)

"But he has been always part of my life and he's very dear and close to me. So I hope huwag na lang i-touch," she said.

Jessy said that for now, falling in love is the least of her priorities.

"Wala pa sa isip ko ang love life. Self muna at work. Kasi parang ang dami kong na discover sa sarili ko ngayon, like akalain mo mapapamahal ako sa scuba diving or kaya ang hilig-hilig ko sa dagat?

(My love life is not really top of mind for now. Myself first, work first. Because I continue to discover so much about myself now – like who would have thought I would fall in love with scuba diving, or that I love the sea?)

"When you come from that point in your life, na sobrang low mo, biglang dadating yung ma-appreciate mo yung paunting-unti ka nakakabangon ulit mag-isa, kasi nahahanap mo uli ang sarili mo. And I could say right now, I know myself more than ever," she said.

(When you come from that point in your life, where you feel so low, it will come, you'll appreciate recovering little by little by yourself, because you're rediscovering yourself again.)

In November, Jessy confirmed that she and JM broke up again, months after they got back together. At that time, Jessy said she and JM decided to part ways because they wanted to focus on their careers. (READ: Jessy Mendiola on moving on after airplane incident, forgiving detractors)

But after confirming their breakup, it was reported JM was going through various personal issues again. In September, he challenged Enrique Gil to a fight after the plane incident that involved Jessy, where she was said to have been harassed by an intoxicated Enrique. JM was dropped from the movie Walang Forever, which he was suppose to star in with Jennylyn Mercado, and stopped appearing in the show All of Me. (READ:'Tandem' stars, director on JM de Guzman)

In November, JM issued an apology on Instagram, telling fans not to blame Jessy and the All of Me staff for his behavior.

'You're My Home' and working with JC de Vera

After the controversy she faced last year, Jessy said that she was grateful to have You're My Home as an outlet. In the show, she plays Grace Fontanilla, the eldest child of Gabriel and Marian Fontanilla, played by Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

"Malaking tulong ang soap na ito. Kasi after nung mga pinagdaanan ko late last year, binuhos ko lahat ng emotion ko at saka isip ko sa trabaho," Jessy said during the press conference.

(The soap really helped. Because after what I've been through late last year, I really poured all my emotions and thought into work.)

"So I guess kaya yung mga tao pag napapanood nila yung mga eksena ko with sila Ms. Dawn or kaya si JC [de Vera], nararamdaman nila na ah talagang tagos… syempre hugot."

(So I guess when the viewers see the scenes with Ms. Dawn or with JC, they really feel it...that it's coming from somewhere.)

Jessy said: "Masaya po ako ngayon (I'm really happy) in totality of my whole life, I am happy right now in terms of myself and career."

As for her tandem with JC, Jessy said that both of them did not expect the warm reception they received, since their characters Christian and Grace became closer as the show neared the finale. They even have fan clubs online.

GRACETIAN. During the press conference, Star Cinema's Mico del Rosario shares that Jessy and JC de Vera might have an upcoming project, after 'You're My Home.' Photo by Alecs Ongcal/Rappler

"Yung sa amin ni JC na it was warm yung pagtanggap ng mga fans, ng mga manonood, mas ginaganahan ako magtrabaho, mag post [sa Instagram] kasi nakakatuwa magpakilig. Nakakatuwa makita yung mga tao na nag-eenjoy sila panoorin yung pinaghirapan nyo," Jessy said.

(The thing with me and JC, the fans accepted us very warmly, and I was inspired to continue to work, to post [on Instagram] because it's nice to make them feel giddy about the characters. It's just so nice to see people enjoying what you've worked hard for.)

Jessy also clarfied that despite being close to each other, she and JC are not together. But they do support each other outside of their work in the show, with Jessy agreeing to appear in JC's upcoming music video for his album. The two also appear together on Banana Sundae.

Kanye West, Ellie Goulding to use fan lyrics in anti-poverty album

NEW YORK, USA – Top names in music including Kanye West and Ellie Goulding will record songs from lyrics submitted by fans in a unique interactive album aimed at fighting global poverty. (READ: Pop stars, world leaders rally to end poverty)

Global Citizen, best known for organizing giant annual concerts in New York to further the goal of eradicating extreme poverty by 2030, on Tuesday, March 15 announced the project titled Metamorphoses.

The 12-track album, to be released later this year, will also include British folk revivalists Mumford & Sons and New York-based indie rock giants The National.

Fans will have until March 31 to submit original lyrics, poems or stories. The artists will then select from the suggestions and collaboratively turn them into songs.

The album will be available for "purchase" by listeners who commit to take action against poverty, such as petitioning their governments to boost development assistance.

"Metamorphoses has the potential to break down our preconceptions of the voices of creativity, what different people around the world are thinking and who has the right to be heard," said Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, who dreamed up the project with Global Citizen chief executive Hugh Evans.

"In my own life, I've experienced people trying to define me and put me in boxes and categories," he said in a statement. "Through collaboration we can show people how those lines can be blurred and are ultimately redundant."

Mumford & Sons won the prestigious Album of the Year Grammy for 2012's folksy Babel but went in a more electric direction on last year's follow-up Wilder Mind, on which the band worked with The National's Aaron Dessner.

West, one of the most successful artists in rap history, has increasingly experimented with form. His latest album,The Life of Pablo, is available only through streaming, with West continually fine-tuning it. (READ: Kanye West names album 'The Life of Pablo' – but who's Pablo?)

Fans, who can make submissions to the new project at GlobalCitizen.org/Metamorphoses, are welcome to write about any topic.

Evans said the producers would take material from around the world with the aim of making the album "a truly global tribute to our collective responsibility" to fight extreme poverty.

Further artists and an exact release date will be announced later, Global Citizen said.

The group said its supporters took two million actions in 2015 to support Global Citizen's goals.

Its latest festival, held in September in Central Park and televised internationally, featured Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Pearl Jam.

US First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance to push the goal of bringing education to the estimated 62 million girls around the world who are out of school – a key component of the UN's strategy to end extreme poverty.– Rappler.com

Diego Loyzaga speaks up on club incident

AIRING HIS SIDE. Diego Loyzaga says he and Paolo Lopez went out to talk and clarify the misunderstanding. File photo by Rob Reyes/Rappler

MANILA, Philippines – After his name came up in reports of an altercation at the Palace Pool Club in Taguig Sunday, March 13, actor Diego Loyzaga clarified his side of the issue.

According to a report from Pep, brothers Paolo and Angelo Lopez accused Diego and his companions of beating them up at the Palace Pool Club in Taguig. Paolo and Angelo are both students.

In an interview with ABS-CBN Tuesday, March 15, Diego said: "No one knows the real story. Wala pa naman nagpapalabas ng (No one was coming out with a) statement from our side. So I just find it unfair everyone is suddenly ganging up and parang agreeing on the other side's story without having to hear what we have to say," he said.

Diego said that all he knew was that a girl, who was said to be the girlfriend of one of the Lopez boys, asked to take a photo with him. He was then approached by one of the boys who, he said, dragged and pushed him to the ground.

"My reaction right away, in self-defense, when I stood up, I lifted my arms up so I would stop any more punches hitting me. I was afraid that when I would be on the floor, dudumugin na ako (they would mob me)," Diego said.

Diego recounted that he and Paolo just looked at each other before the bouncers intervened. He clarified that he and Paolo were civil.

"I told him let's not cause a scene here. Let's go outside and properly talk imbes na mag-away (instead of fighting) because I really don't know what happened," Diego said.

Diego continued that as they went out of the club, a lot of people followed them, but he wasn't sure if they were friends with the Lopez brothers or not.

Outside, he and Paolo talked to each other and Diego apologized for the misunderstanding, but another fight broke out nearby, this time involving his friend, JC Arroyo.

"Doon na kami naging emosyonal. (That's when we became emotional) So binalikan ko si (So I went back to) Paolo and started to ask him, 'Paolo, do you know who that person was?' Kasi imposibleng coincidence lang na may taong nag-aabang sa amin (because it's impossible that it was a coincidence that there were people waiting for us)," Diego said.

He and his friends suspected that Paolo called for backup or it was a planned fight, because it seemed that there were people with weapons waiting for them outside the club.

Diego said that he was questioning Paolo when the group from the other camp slowly aprroached them and the next thing he knew, he was hit from the side, his nose and jaw included. Diego also suffered a fractured hand.

"I was bleeding out. I couldn't see anything anymore. Wala na po akong nakita kung sino ang nagrarambulan (I could not see who was fighting anymore). I just saw a lot of people falling, fighting, and throwing punches," he said.

Diego was later taken to the hospital by his friends. It was then that Diego learned that another person called up friends when he saw Paolo Lopez and Diego talking, in case there would be a fight.

Diego said he could not understand why he was being blamed for the incident when he was taken to the hospital after.

"I'm being blamed for what happened to the brothers. I honestly don't know what happened to the brothers. I don't know, I didn't see what happened to him. I know that Paolo got beaten up really bad, but Wilmer (Angelo), I don't know where he went," Diego said.

Diego admitted earlier in the interview that his mom, actress Teresa Loyzaga, and dad Cesar Montano, are not happy about the issue.

Paolo's side

Meanwhile, Paolo denied that he pushed Diego to the ground, telling ABS-CBN that all he did was tell Diego that the girl who approached him was his brother's girlfriend. According to Paolo, Diego got mad and punched him in the face.

Angelo also defended Paolo, saying that they did not know that one of the guys who who started the fight was from their group.

"He's telling the truth. Hindi naman talaga niya alam. Wala siyang alam. (He really didn't know. He didn't know anything.) Things got heated. Tapos bigla na lang (And then suddenly) he got hit [above his right eye]," Angelo said.

But according to a report from Pep, an unnamed witness reaffirmed Diego's story, saying that Diego was approached by the Lopez siblings and that he was the one who was hit first. The witness also said that the incident happened right in front of the table where Diego and his group were. – Rappler.com

LOS ANGELES, USA – Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic role as the adventurous archaeologist in a fifth installment of the Indiana Jones series, the Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday, March 15.

It said Steven Spielberg, who directed all four previous films, will helm the as-yet-untitled project that will hit the big screen in 2019.

"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement.

"It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."

Disney in 2013 took over rights to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount Films and since then reports have been swirling that a fifth installment was in the works.

Indiana Jones burst onto the screen in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989.

Ford, 73, and Spielberg reunited in 2008 for the fourth installment of the series, "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which got lukewarm reviews and reunited an aging Jones with his Raiders love interest Karen Allen. The movie also introduced Shia LeBeouf as their son.

The franchise has grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide. – Rappler.com

The pop diva known for her soaring five-octave range said that the E! entertainment network would follow her for an eight-part series entitled Mariah's World.

"Mariah is one of the most captivating pop superstars of our time and one of the rare artists whose first name alone is instantly recognized around the globe," Jeff Olde, the network's executive vice president for programming and development, said in a statement. (WATCH: Mariah Carey creates new Christmas song onstage)

The series will follow Carey as she plans her wedding to the Australian casino tycoon James Packer and raises her twins from her previous marriage to TV host and actor Nick Cannon.

Mariah's World will also cover her upcoming tour of Europe and South Africa which was opening Tuesday in Glasgow. (IN PHOTOS: Mariah Carey thrills PH crowd at 'Elusive Chanteuse' concert)

Carey was the top-selling female artist in the United States in the 1990s and her 1995 song "One Sweet Day" with Boyz II Men maintains the record for the most weeks at number one on the Billboard singles chart.

But her last album – 2014's Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse – was her weakest chart performer. Last year, she began a residency show at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. – Rappler.com

LOS ANGELES, USA – A group of 25 Academy members of Asian descent, including Oscar-winning film director Ang Lee and Star Trek actor George Takei, have complained about racist jokes at this year's awards.

The 88th Academy Awards on February 28 featured a section in which host Chris Rock introduced children of Asian descent as Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences accountants and an ad-libbed insinuation by actor Sacha Baron Cohen that Asian men were not well-endowed.

"We'd like to know how such tasteless and offensive skits could have happened and what process you have in place to preclude such unconscious or outright bias and racism toward any group in future Oscars telecasts," the group said in a letter to the Academy.

Actor-turned-social media personality Takei and Taiwanese-born Lee co-signed the letter with former academy governors Don Hall, Freida Lee Mock and Arthur Dong, and 20 other Academy members.

The group expressed "complete surprise and disappointment with the targeting of Asians at the 88th Oscars telecast and its perpetuation of racist stereotypes."

The irony of the complaint will not be lost on the Academy, which has been contending with a social media backlash against the lack of racial diversity among the nominees, under the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.

"In light of criticism over #OscarsSoWhite, we were hopeful that the telecast would provide the Academy a way forward and the chance to present a spectacular example of inclusion and diversity," said the letter, made public on Tuesday by Variety magazine.

Instead, it complained, the ceremony was marred by "a tone-deaf approach" to its representation of Asians.

"The Academy appreciates the concerns stated, and regrets that any aspect of the Oscar telecast was offensive," an Academy spokeswoman said in a statement.

"We are committed to doing our best to ensure that material in future shows be more culturally sensitive."– Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – Charice shared that she is now in the process of making her new album.

In an interview with reporters after the Myx Music Awards 2016 on Tuesday, March 15, Charice said that she has been doing well so far, and is working on a new album with tracks she has penned herself.

"Okay naman po. (I'm doing well.) Ginagawa ko ngayon yung (I'm doing a) new album with the help of Mayonnaise, whom I performed with earlier. And I’m very excited. Most of the songs are written by yours truly. All original songs, so sobrang excited ako because I’ve put my heart into it, so sana magustuhan nila (I hope they'll like it)," Charice said.

At the Myx Awards, Charice and Mayonnaise performed "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by '90s grunge rock band Nirvana.

When asked if she's just here on a vacation from the US, or back with new projects in the pipeline, Charice said that she is just focused on finishing her upcoming album.

"There are projects outside pero mas enjoy ko yung pagawa ng album sa ngayon," Charice said.

(There are other projects outside, but I enjoy working on the album more right now.)

Charice, who is currently sporting a blonde hairstyle, said that she is just embracing her new look.

"Hinahayaan ko lang siya. [...] Hindi ko siya inaano kasi gusto ng iba tao. Hinahayaan ko siya na kung humaba siya, humaba siya. Kung feel na mag-paiksi uli, paiksi uli," she said.

(I'm just letting it be. I'm not sporting this hairdo just because people like it. I'll let it grow if I feel like it. If I feel like cutting it short, I'll cut it.)

Aside from working on her new album, Charice is currently busy doing shows across the country.

She performed last year during David Foster's tour in Manila, and also appeared as one of the performers during the dinner hosted by President Benigno Aquino III during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. – Rappler.com

“Workers in the film, television, movie, and other forms of media spend unreasonable number of hours of work, which is not only inhumane but detrimental to their health,” Chiz, the husband of actress Heart Evangelista, said in a statement.

The vice presidential candidate made the proposal following the outcry from media workers about their long working hours, triggered by the sudden deaths of directors Wenn Deramas and Francis Pasion.

“The successive deaths of these directors should serve as a wake-up call. We should push for a more reasonable schedule for industry workers who normally work 16 to 18 hours a day,” said Chiz.

Actors, directors, and other industry members have revealed that some shoots for TV series would last more than 24 hours.

Chiz wants to fill the gap in the Labor Code of the Philippines which, he said, fails to provide normal work hours for a unique set of employees.

According to Article 83 of the Labor Code of the Philippines, workers should not exceed more than 8 hours of work. However, this law doesn't apply to field personnel, who must regularly perform duties outside of an office and whose hours of work can't be determined with reasonable certainty.

For those whose jobs exceed the 8-hour work day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released Department Advisory Number 22, series of 2004, which states:

"Unless there is a more favorable practice existing in the firm, work beyond 8 hours will not be compensable by overtime premium, provided the total number of hours worked per day shall not exceed 12 hours. In any case, any work performed beyond 12 hours a day or 48 hours a week shall be subject to overtime premium."

However, not all productions follow the DOLE advisory.– Rappler.com
