LOS ANGELES, USA – Authorities in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 6 declined to file charges against disgraced comedian Bill Cosby over allegations that he sexually assaulted two women, including one at the Playboy mansion. (READ: Bill Cosby, battling rape accusations, tweets thanks to fans)

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office cited insufficient evidence and the statute of limitations in the two cases, one which dates back to 1965 and the second to 2008. (READ: Bill Cosby appears in US court on sexual assault charge)

The announcement comes a week after Cosby appeared in  a Pennsylvania court on a charge of aggravated indecent assault over a 2004 incident. (READ: Bill Cosby charged with sexual assault – prosecutor)

The 78-year-old comedian has been accused by dozens of women who claim he drugged and sexually assaulted them.

The two cases decided on Wednesday involve allegations that Cosby forced a then 17-year-old girl to have intercourse with him in the Hollywood Hills in 1965.

The second case involves a woman who claims Cosby assaulted her at the Playboy mansion in the summer of 2008 when she was 18 years old.

The woman, Chloe Goins, filed a civil lawsuit against Cosby in October.

Statutes of limitations have prevented most of the women who have accused the comedian of sexual assault from taking legal action. In the Pennsylvania case, the statute of limitations was set to expire early next year.

NEW YORK, USA – Janet Jackson says she's getting better and doesn't have cancer as speculation swirls over a mystery malady that led the pop superstar to suspend her world tour.

The 49-year-old singer on Christmas Eve announced that she was postponing an unspecified number of concerts as doctors told her she needed an operation "soon."

While she had insisted that she would not comment further, Jackson released a new message late Wednesday, January 6 to refute reports on her condition.

"The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer," wrote Jackson, who still did not specify her ailment.

"I'm recovering. My doctors have approved my concerts as scheduled in Europe, and as I promised, the postponed shows will be rescheduled," she said, giving a clearer indication on when she will resume her tour.

Jackson is due to open the European leg of her Unbreakable album's tour on March 30 in Birmingham, England.

She has more than two months of concerts scheduled before then around North America.

Jackson began her tour on August 31 in Vancouver and has already performed extensively across North America, along with several dates in Japan.

Jackson released the update on her health through social media in the form of a silent message on a black screen at the end of a two-minute video.

The clip begins with a snippet from her song "The Great Forever" off her latest album, in which she sings, "Not too pleased with what you're digging / I'm just busy living my life."

Jackson had temporarily retreated from the public eye after her brother Michael died in 2009 but returned two years later with a global tour.

Unbreakable, with a sound often eerily reminiscent of her late brother's, is her first album since the King of Pop's death.

NEW YORK, USA – US cable network HBO has announced it will run a 6th season of Girls in 2017, but it will be the final one for the award-winning hit series created by writer and actress Lena Dunham.

The show, which follows the lives of a group of young adults in New York, was a sensation when it debuted on HBO in 2012.

Created by a woman, with women in lead roles, the series also drew attention for its distinctive tone – one that was very realistic and often crude.

In just 4 seasons, the program has been nominated 14 times for Emmy Awards, US television's top honors, winning once in 2012 for best casting. 

It won two Golden Globes in 2013 – for best comedy series and best comedy actress for Dunham.

The series also introduced actor Adam Driver, who played the disturbing character of Kylo Ren in the seventh installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens – which hit theaters worldwide at the end of December.

The 5th season of Girls is scheduled to begin February 21 on HBO.

"I conceived of Girls when I was 23 and now I'm nearly 30 –  the show has quite perfectly spanned my 20s, the period of time that it's about  –  and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up," Dunham said.

Dunham is already at work on a new project for HBO – a series called Max which takes place in 1963 and evokes the emergence of a new generation of feminists. HBO has ordered a pilot.

“The truth of it is, you can think one thing about a situation and the total opposite can happen," he told the magazine.

"I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven’t received calls from a lot of people. I’ve reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it’s stuff you overcome in time.”

Since leaving, Zayn has been working on his solo album with producer James “Malay” Ho, who also worked on Frank Ocean's Channel Orange.

Zayn said earlier in the interview that he and the other boys had different musical tastes.

“I genuinely enjoyed [the band] and did whatever I could to be myself within that, but it’s just not where I sit as a musician,” he told Billboard. "The other boys’ taste was generally indie rock. It’s good music, but I don’t f-ck with it. That was never cool where I was from.”

Zayn grew up in Bradford, a working-class town in England.

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno (Francisco Domagoso) said on Friday, January 8, that the death of German "Kuya Germs" Moreno is a huge loss to him, to the industry, and to the others whom the show business bigwig took under his wing.

In a statement sent to the media, Isko said, "Isang malaking kawalan hindi lamang sa industriya ngunit para sa buhay ko ang mawalang isang tao na halos nagsilbing pangalawang ama ko loob at labas ng showbiz." 

(It's a big loss, not only to the industry, but to my life, to lose a person who served as my second father in- and outside of showbiz.)

Isko recounted that Kuya Germs was the one who dicovered him and gave him a chance in the showbiz industry. 



"He opened the doors for me and to be honest, wala ho sigurong Isko Moreno ngayon kung walang Kuya Germs. Wala akong ka talent-talent noon sa pagkanta o pagsayaw, but he took risk on me, at 'yun ang naging susi ko upang maiahon ko ang sarili at pamilya ko sa kahirapan."

(He opened doors for me and, to be honest, there probably wouldn't be an Isko Moreno now if there wasn't a Kuya Germs. I didn't have any talent in singing or dancing before, but he took the risk on me, and that became my key to raise myself and my family out of hardship.)

As he was growing up, Isko lived in the slums. He helped his family earn a living by collecting bottles and trash, and selling them to junk shops. 

He was discovered by his talent manager, Wowie Roxas, at someone's wake, who pushed him to audition for That's Entertainment, German Moreno's variety show co-hosted by young stars.

Later, he starred in Muntik na Kitang Minahal, opposite Claudine Barretto – his first leading role.

After acting, Isko transitioned to politics, becoming Manila councilor before finishing college and eventually studying law. Today, he is running for senator in the 2016 elections.

Even after he left showbiz, Isko said, Kuya Germs was still concerned about him. "Lagi hong tatawag yan everytime may nababasa siya tungkol sa akin sa mga balita." (He always called me everytime he read something about me in the news.)



"He is a huge loss lalong-lalo na sa napakaraming artista na, at one point or another, ay natulungan niya sa showbiz," Isko said. (He is a huge loss, especially to the many artists that at one point or another, he helped in showbiz.)

It was confirmed later that the comedian and TV host had really died, causing the number of tweets to increase again.

The highest number of tweets per minute was 290, and they first reached that number at 7:29 am.

Angeline, who rose to success as the grand winner of Star Power, was only 7 years old when she started her devotion to the Black Nazarene through her adoptive mother, Mama Bob.

"Pupunta kami ng Quiapo na nakapaa. Si Mama Bob medyo malakas pa noon kaya nakakasama pa siya (We would go to Quiapo barefoot. Mama Bob was stil strong then so she can still go)," said Angeline, who was invited to sing at the event at the Quirino Grandstand this year.

She said one of her prayers to the Black Nazarene back then was for her to win the contest. She recalled trying to get close to the statue and touch it.  (READ: Making sense of the Nazarene devotion)

"Yung faith mo talaga, buong puso iyon. Hindi ka magdadalawang isip na sumampa kahit delikado pa.  Nahalikan ko siya sa mukha. Alam mo, wala akong ibang inisip kung hindi mama ko," Angeline said.

(If your faith is strong, you won't think twice about the risks despite the dangers that come with it. I was able to kiss his face. At that time, all I thought about was was my mother.)

In the same interview, Coco said his devotion to the Black Nazarene started because of his grandmother. Despite his busy schedule, he would go to the procession to say his prayers, sometimes disguising himself to avoid attention.

"Ang ginagawa ko naghuhubad ako ng damit. Nagnininja ako, tinatakpan ko ang mukha ko. Tapos nandoon lang ako sa labas, nagdadasal (What I do is I would take my shirt off. I would cover my face and then would jus be outside watching)."

"Iniwasan ko din yung mga ganun bagay na...makagulo pa ako (I try to avoid these kiind of things, because I might cause trouble)," Coco said.

According to Coco, his prayer was simple – to have a decent job to provide for his fmaily. He never thought that he would become an actor. He also said that he tried to approach the statue so many times.

"Lumangoy-langoy ako sa mga tao, binuhat nila ako tapos, pagdating doon, napalapit na ako sa Nazareno...nakikpag anuhan ka ng lakas para makalapit sa kanya (I would wade through people, they carried me and when I got there, when I was near the Black Nazarene, I would try to look for strength to be close to it)."

"Nung nahawakan ko na siya, bumagsak ako, hindi ako makahinga.  Dito mo mapapatunayan kung ano yung faith mo sa kanya (When I was able to touch him, I fainted; I couldn't breath. This is where you can prove your faith in him)," Coco said. 

More than a million devotees troop to Quiapo to pay homage to the Black Nazarene, which celebrates its feast day on January 9. As of 10am, Saturday, Chief Superintendent Kim Molitas, National Capital Region Police Office spokesperson said that the number of devotees was estimated at 1.5 million. The statue expected is expected to reach its destination, Quiapo church, around late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, January 10.

The procession is not without any problem, with accidents over the years. As of Saturday, Janaury 9, two devotees died of cardiac arrest at the sidelines of the procession.– Rappler.com

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – Justin Bieber tried to take in a bit too much culture during his Mexican vacation as the pop star was kicked out of Mayan ruins for attempting to enter a restricted area.

The 21-year-old Canadian singer was visiting the ancient site in Tulum, which faces the Caribbean Sea, on Thursday, Janaury 7 when he sought to "enter an area prohibited to visitors," an official at the National Institute of Anthropology and History told Agence France Presse.

Guards from the institute, which oversees archeological sites, stopped Bieber and "invited him to leave" the ruins, the official said on condition of anonymity, confirming an incident that made headlines in Mexico.

Bieber caused a commotion during a previous visit to Mexico in November 2013, when he claimed on Twitter to have met President Enrique Pena Nieto and his family at a performance in Mexico City.

The president's office denied that the meeting had taken place and Bieber later corrected himself, saying that he had only met with Pena Nieto's family.

Bieber, who was discovered in 2008 when a music producer stumbled on an online video of the youngster, released "Purpose" last month, his first album in 3 years. – Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – German "Kuya Germs" Moreno's wake began on Friday, January 8, and many personalities in the showbiz industry visited Mt Carmel Shrine to pay their respects. (READ: German 'Kuya Germs' Moreno dies)

Among the visitors were celebrities, former That's Entertainment cast members, producers, and many others whose lives were touched by the Master Showman. (READ: Stars mourn death of German 'Kuya Germs' Moreno)

Here's a look at some of the personalities we were able to talk to:

Dawn Zulueta co-hosted GMA Supershow, one of Kuya Germs' variety shows, in 1988. At the wake on Saturday, January 9, tears rolled down the actress' face as she remembered the late Kuya Germs.

She said: "I guessang mensahe ko lang talaga is iba na ang show business [ngayon] na wala na si Kuya Germs. Ang dami niyang tinulungan, kasama na ako doon. Wala ako dito kung wala si Kuya Germs, napakalaki ng utang na loob ko sa kanya. At maraming nalulungkot ngayon na wala na siya. So I, I guess Kuya Germs, I'll see you someday. We'll be together someday."

(I guess my message is, show business will be different now that Kuya Germs is gone. He helped so many people, myself included. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Kuya Germs, I owe him so much. And many people are sad now that he's gone.)

"And ipagpapatuloy na lang siguro namin, kaming mga iniwan niyang mga anak-anakan niya, ipagpapatuloy namin ang lahat ng kabutihan na itinuro niya, pinakita niya sa amin. Yun ang plano kong gawin in dedication to him."

(And we'll continue – we, the children he adopted as his own – we'll continue to do the good that he taught us, that he showed us. That's what I plan to do in dedication to him.)

Dawn also spoke about the last time she saw Kuya Germs – at the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards in September 2015. There, she reproached him for not resting, as he suffered a mild stroke in January.

Actress Carmi Martin said that she saw him last when she accepted her star on the Eastwood Walk of Fame, which was established by Kuya Germs. Carmi was in That's Entertainment. 

On her message to Kuya Germs, she said: "Sana may sumunod sa ginawa mong example sa showbiz, kung paano mong inembrace at minahal ang ating industriya. You will definitely be missed, Kuya Germs, and we love you so much."

Rita Avila is one of the many actresses who started her career on That's Entertainment. Rita had a positive view on Kuya Germs' death, saying: "It's the full circle of Kuya Germs, na he was the father of everybody, I'm sure that he will always be remembered in this industry. I'm sure wherever Kuya Germs is now, siguro million times happier pa, at alam niya na marami din siyang pinaligaya dito sa mundo (and he knows that he made many people in this world happy).

Her message for her late mentor was simply, "Thank you, Kuya Germs."

Coco Martin, who made his way from independent films to box office hits, said that Kuya Germs was always very supportive of him.

"Ang Master Showman po ay isa sa mga naging daan para mabigyan ako ng pagkataon para mag-promote sa telebisyon. At every time may pelikula ako, laging nandoon si Kuya Germs para ako buksan ng pinto," he said.

(The Master Showman was one of those who gave me the opportunity to promote on television. Every time I had a movie, Kuya Germs was always there to open doors.)

"At sobra po siyang proud na nakikita niya na kahit papaano, meron na pong nangyayari sa buhay ko, sa career ko, sobra po siyang proud," continued Coco.

"And then nalungkot ako, kasi yung taong talagang concerned sa industriya, yung taong talagang pinaglalaban yung karapatan ng mga artista tapos ito nga po ang nangyari sa kanya, parang malaking kawalan po para sa industriya, lalung-lalo na po yung nagmamahal sa ating lahat."

(And he was so proud when he saw that, in a way, something happened to my life, to my career, he was so proud. And then I was sad, because this person who was really concerned about the industry, this person who really fought for the rights of the artists – this happened to him, it's such a big loss for the industry, especially for all of us who love it.)

Kuya Germs wasn't happy when Billy Crawford left the GMA network in 2008 for its rival, ABS-CBN. Nonetheless, Billy said that Kuya Germs couldn't resist his love for the young actors he treated like his own:

"Si Kuya Germs isa sa pinaka-professional and loyal na nakilala ko sa buong buhay ko, at nung nagkahiwalay kami ng landas sa ibang network and what-not, siyempre nagkatampuhan, si Pa ay di niya matanggap talaga. Pero hindi niya rin natiis siguro ang pagmamahal niya sa anak niya so ayun, pinatawad niya ako at nag-guest ako sa Walang Tulugan at that time and ayun, 'yun 'yung isa sa pinaka-special moment namin."

(Well, that's one of my fondest memories, because Kuya Germs is the most professional and loyal person I've met in my life, and when we went on separate paths, when it came to other networks and what-not, of course he wasn't pleased, Pa couldn't accept it. But I guess he couldn't resist his love for his adopted kids, so he forgave me, and I even guested on Walang Tulugan at that time and that was one of our most special moments.)

Kuya Germs' nephew and Walang Tulugan With the Master Showman co-host John Nite, said that he'll miss Kuya Germs' presence. The two also lived together before Kuya Germs died. (READ: John Nite on what he'll miss most about Kuya Germs)

"Sa akin, personally, kasi personally magkasama kami, kumakain kami, may mga problema, may mga things na hindi nakikita ng tao, on a personal level, tsaka yung family things namin, na kami lang nakakaalam," he added. "'Yun 'yung mami-miss ko talaga sa kanya na physically wala siya diyan, at saka ako meron akong mga decisions na dapat kailangan siya ang mag-decide. Ano, mahirap."

(For me, personally, because personally we're together, we eat together, there are problems, things other people don't see, on a personal level, and family things too, that only we know. That's what I'll really miss about him, that he's not there physically, and there are decisions that only he can make for me. It's hard.)

Evangeline Pascual, one of the board members of the Actors Guild of the Philippines, said that Kuya Germs took care of her after she placed first runner-up in Miss World 1973.

As one of the board members of the Katipunan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon (KAPPT), Evangeline praised the work that Kuya Germs did when he was president of the guild:

"Talagang yung mga ginawa niya noon bilang presidente ng KAPPT ay mahirap gampanan at tugunan. Pero gayunpaman, naging halimbawa siya para maging mas inspired kami na maiangat namin ang estado ng Actors Guild of the Philippines dahil sa kanyang mga examples na pinakita.

(Really, what he did as the president of the KAPPT was difficult to achieve and repeat. Still, he became an example so that we became more inspired to improve the standards of the Actors Guild of the Philippines because of the example he showed.)

"At 'yan ang magiging ating gabay at inspirasyon para po makatulong tayo sa Actors Guild of the Philippines, dahil po sa kagandahang loob ni Kuya Germs na pinakita ng kanyang buhay.

(And that becomes our guide and inspiration to help at the Actors Guild of the Philippines, because of the kindness that Kuya Germs showed in his life.)

Lily Monteverde, also known as Mother Lily, gave a message to the Master Showman, saying, "Kuya Germs, I'm going to miss you. I know that we call up each other every night... Nauna ka pa sa 'kin (You went ahead of me), you know, I really love you from the bottom of my heart."

WASHINGTON DC, USA – A bipartisan group of US lawmakers was set to introduce legislation Friday, January 8 that provides President Barack Obama authority to revoke the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Bill Cosby, the actor-turned-pariah facing several rape accusations.

The medal was established half a century ago as the nation's highest civilian honor, but in July, Obama acknowledged there was no mechanism for officially revoking the award.

Members of Congress are moving to empower the president to do just that, rolling out a bill that also provides criminal penalties for anyone who publicly displays such a medal that has been stripped.

"Cosby has admitted to drugging women in order to satisfy his sexual desires, and, therefore, the federal government should not recognize Cosby with an honor like the Presidential Medal of Freedom," said a draft of the measure provided by the office of House Republican Paul Gosar, the bill's main sponsor.

His office said the measure would be introduced Friday.

Cosby, 78, was charged last week with felony sexual assault, the first to stem from a series of allegations that have ruined his image as an affable patriarch in the wildly popular 1980s television hit The Cosby Show. (READ: Bill Cosby appears in US court on sexual assault charge)

More than 50 women have accused Cosby of drugging and sexually molesting or raping them – allegations the veteran television and movie showman has vehemently denied. (READ: Bill Cosby, battling rape accusations, tweets thanks to fans)

Gosar said that while there is a legal presumption of Cosby's innocence, the actor's admission to drugging several women puts him "outside the bounds of whom we should admire in our society."

"Like so many Americans, I am sick and tired of watching the rapid decline of our culture right in front of our eyes," he said Thursday, Janaury 7.

"It is time to reclaim our nation's moral compass."

Fifteen Republicans and two Democrats are sponsoring the bill, according to a Gosar aide.

It remained unclear whether the legislation could pass Congress, or if the president would sign it.

"We'll take a look at the proposal if Congress takes a vote on it," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Thursday.

"Symbolic commemorations are always difficult to deal with," he added, expressing concern about creating a precedent with regard to "trying to undo medals."– Rappler.com

NEW YORK, USA – Rap superstar Kanye West has scheduled his first 2016 appearance by headlining New York's June 3-5 Governors Ball festival, which will also feature influential homegrown rockers The Strokes.

West in recent weeks has put out several tracks which have raised speculation of a new album, although he has not confirmed any concrete plans. (READ: Kanye West coming to Manila in 2016)

West headlined the Glastonbury festival in England last year but has kept a comparatively quiet performance schedule in recent months.

The Strokes helped define the New York music scene, as well as the larger world of indie rock, in the 2000s with their spirited revival of the punk sound.

The band has played only sparingly in recent years, with lead singer Julian Casablancas pursuing a side project, although The Strokes performed at Governors Ball in 2014.

Other acts to play Governors Ball this year include the alternative rock icon Beck, who won last year's Grammy for Album of the Year, as well as Swedish electro-pop star Robyn and popular rockers The Killers and Death Cab for Cutie.

Governors Ball was inaugurated in 2011 on Governors Island off southern Manhattan before moving to larger Randalls Island.

Festivals have since boomed around the world and especially in North America, becoming a critical source of revenue in the music industry.

Governors Ball has voiced concern amid moves by major promoter AEG, which runs Coachella in California, to create another festival in New York in 2016.

MANILA, Philippines – Many stars have shared what they will miss the most about the late entertainment icon, German "Kuya Germs" Moreno, regarded as a second father by many.

But for John Nite, Kuya Germs' nephew, the thing he'll miss the most about the Master Showman is simply his presence.

During Kuya Germs' wake on Saturday, January 9, John said that Kuya Germs' death hasn't sunk in yet. He added that prior to his arrival at the wake that evening, he had his first sleep in two days.

He shared that upon waking up, everything still felt the same: "Parang wala sa senses ko na pupuntahan ko siya dito eh. When I passed doon sa– going down [the stairs], kuwarto niya yun eh, parang normal pa rin, araw-araw ko pa rin ginagawa yun eh, bababa ako tapos makikita ko pa siya doon."

(It's like I wasn't in my senses, that I was visiting him here. When I passed there – going down the stairs, that's his room, it's like it was still normal, every day I still do that, I go down and I still see him there.)

Before his death, Kuya Germs lived with John.

John added that it's mostly Kuya Germs' presence that he will miss the most.

"Yung tanong... sa akin [kung] ano mami-miss ko sa kanya, 'yun, as in wala lang siya (That question...for me, what I would miss about him, it's that, that he's gone). But he will always forever live in my heart, in my family's heart, lahat ng mga taong nagmamahal sa kanya (everyone who loves him)."

"Pero sa akin, personally, kasi personally magkasama kami, kumakain kami, may mga problema, may mga things na hindi nakikita ng tao, on a personal level, tsaka yung family things namin, na kami lang nakakaalam," he added. "Yun yung mami-miss ko talaga sa kanya na physically wala siya diyan, at saka ako meron akong mga decisions na dapat kailangan siya ang mag-decide. Ano, mahirap."

(For me, personally, because personally we're together, we eat together, there are problems, things other people don't see, on a personal level, and family things too, that only we know. Later in the interview, John also said of Kuya Germs' death, "Ngayong mawawala siya (Now that he's gone), it will end an era, or it will end another chapter in show business."

In spite of his loss, John is expecting all the best in the future. "Alam ko na yung mga gusto niya na gawin ko, alam ko yung maasiwa siya, o alam ko yung di pasado sa kanya, natutunan ko na yun sa kanya, matagal na. Kaya wala kaming pinagdidiskusyunan o wala kaming pinag hindi nag-aagreehan. Little things only. But he knows na nakikinig naman ako."

(I know what he wants me to do, I know what would make him uneasy, I know what wouldn't pass for him, I learned that a long time ago. That's why we don't have anything to discuss anymore or we don't have anything that we don't agree on. Little things only. But he knows that I listen.)

John also co-hosted Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman with Kuya Germs before his death. 

Kuya Germs died on January 8 of cardiac arrest. He is known for hosting GMA Supershow and That's Entertainment, and has appeared in many TV shows and films.

His interment will be held on Thursday, January 13, at the Loyola Memorial in Marikina. Before the interment, he will stay for a night at the GMA studio, as Kuya Germs remained loyal to the network.– Rappler.com

MANILA, Philippines – German "Kuya Germs" Moreno wasn't pleased when Billy left the GMA network for its rival, ABS-CBN in 2008, but the two were able to make up long before Kuya Germs' death.

During the Master Showman's wake on Saturday, January 9, Billy shared his experiences with Kuya Germs, who was his mentor in the '80s afternoon variety show, That's Entertainment.

On their "tampuhan," Billy said, "Well yun yung isa safondestmemory ko, kasi si Kuya Germs isa sa pinaka-professional and loyal na nakilala ko sa buong buhay ko, at nung nagkahiwalay kami ng landas sa ibangnetworkand what-not, siyempre nagkatampuhan, si Pa ay di niya matanggap talaga."

(Well, that's one of my fondest memories, because Kuya Germs is the most professional and loyal person I've met in my life, and when we went on separate paths when it came to other networks and what-not, of course he wasn't pleased, Pa couldn't accept it.)

"Pero hindi niya rin natiis siguro ang pagmamahal niya sa anak niya so ayun, pinatawad niya ako at nag-guest ako sa Walang Tulugan at that time and ayun, yun yung isa sa pinaka-special moment namin."

(But I guess he couldn't resist his love for his adopted kids, so he forgave me, and I even guested on Walang Tulugan at that time and there, it was one of our most special moments.)

Billy guested on Kuya Germs' Walang Tulugan With the Master Showman, a late night variety show, in 2011.

Billy saw Kuya Germs one last time before he died. He said that when he heard about Kuya Germs not being well, he texted Federico Moreno, Kuya Germs' son.

"I got to speak to Pa right before he passed away, but of course hindi na siya (he wasn't) responsive," said Billy.

Missing the Master Showman

Billy also shared that he would always remember Kuya Germs, who he fondly calls "Pa," for picking him up at the airport whenever he'd visit the Philippines.

Billy joined That's Entertainment when he was 4 years old, but moved to the US when he was 11.

"Tuwing darating ako sa Pilipinas, siya yung sumusundo sa akin before. Tapos dire-diretso kaming breakfast niyan. Tapos ang gift niya sa 'kin every time na nandito ako ay danggit," Billy shared. "And si Pa, never niya ako kinalimutan sa birthday ko and laging tumatawag."

(Whenever I'd visit the Philippines, he would always be the one to pick me up before. Then we'd go straight to breakfast. His gift to me every time I was here was salted fish. And Pa never forgot my birthday, he would always call.)

"Naging tatay ko siya sa industriya (He became my father in the industry), and off-cam. I mean, I was close to him and his family," Billy added.

Billy said Kuya Germs' being his second father is what he'll miss the most, now that he's gone.

"Wala nang tatalak sa amin, wala nang magsasabing, 'Huy, anong pinag- gagawa mo? Mag-ingat ka diyan.' Ganito 'yung isang ama. 'Yun 'yung pinakamami-miss ko sa kanya. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala, pero masakit. Masakit, sobrang sakit."

(No one will reprimand us anymore, no one will say, 'Hey, what are you doing? Be careful.' A father. That's what I'll miss about him. I still can't believe it, but it hurts. It hurts, it really hurts.)

Kuya Germs died on January 8 of cardiac arrest. He is known for hosting GMA Supershow and That's Entertainment, and has appeared in many TV shows and films.

His interment will be held on Thursday, January 13, at the Loyola Memorial in Marikina. Before the interment, he will stay for a night at the GMA studio, as Kuya Germs remained loyal to the network. – Rappler.com

The husband of reality television show star Kim Kardashian, West has managed to keep himself in the headlines for other activities.

Likening himself to  Michelangelo for his diverse interests, West has pursued fashion design and has declared, with an unclear degree of seriousness, that he will run for president in 2020.

But West has recently put out for free a number of tracks, with Kardashian suggesting on Twitter that he planned to do so every week until Swish comes out.

Last month Kardashian gave birth to their second child, a boy named Saint.

If the February 11 date is confirmed, West would be putting out Swish on a Thursday, ignoring a music industry decision last year to make Fridays the standard global release day.

Headliner for Governors Ball festival

The signs of the imminent album came as West's first performance of 2016 was confirmed as a headliner of the June 3-5 Governors Ball festival in New York.

West headlined the Glastonbury festival in England last year but has kept a comparatively quiet performance schedule in recent months.

Other headliners at Governors Ball will include The Strokes, who helped define the New York music scene, as well as the larger world of indie rock, in the 2000s with their spirited post-punk revival.

The band has played only sparingly in recent years, with lead singer Julian Casablancas pursuing a side project, although The Strokes performed at Governors Ball in 2014.

Governors Ball announced its full lineup on Friday that will also include the alternative rock icon Beck, who won last year's Grammy for Album of the Year, as well as Swedish electro-pop star Robyn and popular rockers The Killers and Death Cab for Cutie.

Governors Ball was inaugurated in 2011 on Governors Island off southern Manhattan before moving to larger Randalls Island.

Festivals have since boomed around the world and especially in North America, becoming a critical source of revenue in the music industry.

Governors Ball has voiced concern amid moves by major promoter AEG, which runs Coachella in California, to create another festival in New York in 2016.

In the lineup release, Governors Ball said it was "born and bred" in New York and last year generated $49 million for the city's economy. – Rappler.com

"Let It Go" was one of Channing's lip sync performances out of two in that episode – he also performed "Who Run the World (Girls)" with none other than Beyonce herself.

Last September, Vic confirmed that he and Pauleen, who have been together for 4 years are engaged. Vic said that details of their wedding will be announced on Eat Bulaga. Details of their wedding entourage were released last week.

While they have yet to announce the date and location, it was reported that Vic and Pauleen are set to marry at the end of January.

LOS ANGELES, USA – Leonardo DiCaprio eats a piece of real bison liver in his new movie The Revenant, a harrowing tale of revenge and survival in a frigid setting of the American Old West.

Is this what the guy has to do to win an Oscar, after 25 years of acting and five Academy Award nominations but ultimately no statuette?

The original plan was for him to bite into a simulated organ – "this red, gelatinous sort of pancake" – but DiCaprio said no, it looked fake.

"I wanted to get the real thing," he told NBC's Today show this week.

"It was completely disgusting. My reaction is very much on screen, which is a nauseating one."

In the latest film by acclaimed Mexican director Alejandro Inarritu, DiCaprio, 41, plays a fur trapper named Hugh Glass out on the frontier of 1820s America. The movie, which came out Friday in North America, is based on a true story.

Glass is betrayed by colleagues who rob him, leave him for dead – buried alive – and kill his half-Indian son. Glass must then survive on his own, without a weapon, in a harsh, frozen landscape, with just one thing on his mind: revenge.

DiCaprio said the movie, which has enjoyed strong reviews and a string of nominations in Hollywood awards season, captures "the poetry of what it means to have all the chips stacked against you, to have very little chance of survival and this triumph of the human spirit."

The ordeal DiCaprio endures as Glass is a far cry from his role as a flashback teen version of a rich man named Mason Capwell on the soap opera Santa Barbara, which aired in the 1980s and 90s. 

DiCaprio shot to global fame with Gilbert Grape in 1993, playing alongside Johnny Depp. 

Fighting a grizzly bear 

The Revenant marks a powerful return for Inarritu, whose film Birdman about a washed-up actor trying to make a comeback on Broadway won 4 Oscars last year, including best film and best director. 

The new flick brings together heart-stopping action scenes by master cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and fabulous footage of a snowy wilderness filmed in natural light.

The special effects are excellent, be it a scene of Glass fighting a grizzly bear or plunging off a cliff on horseback.

But Glass's journey is also an emotional one, fueled by fear, hunger for vengeance and the pain of having lost his entire family.

The film handicapping website Goldderby.com says that thanks to his portrayal of Glass, DiCaprio is very likely to win the prize for best actor in a dramatic role at the Golden Globe awards on Sunday, january 10 and best actor at the Oscars on February 28.

A favorite actor of Martin Scorsese (Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street), DiCaprio has won two Golden Globes, for his work in the latter and in The Aviator. 

He has come up empty-handed with his five Oscar nominations, however.

But his time may have come because the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which votes on who gets the coveted statuettes, has a soft spot for actors in physically demanding roles.

That of Glass is an example par excellence. DiCaprio described the filming, done in Canada and Argentina, as the hardest he has ever done.

"We had a massive crew that had to logistically move from these remote locations through these incredibly harsh winter landscapes," he said.

"Like these fur trappers, we had to adapt to our environment."

To wit: DiCaprio was forced to film buck-naked in the snow, climb snow-covered mountains in sub-freezing temperatures wearing thick furs, spend hours lying still in the cold, or swim in frozen rivers. Then there was the bit with the raw bison liver.

The Revenant, which cost nearly $135 million, gets a thumbs-up from 81 percent of film critics who see it, according to Rottentomatoes.com.
