MANILA, Philippines – Three months since the start of the hit AlDub Kalserye on Eat Bulaga, comedian Wally Bayola says he's still surprised by the amazing feedback from audiences, thanks to the accidental tandem of Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza and Alden Richards.

Wally, who has been hosting the "Juan for All, All For Juan" segment with Paolo Ballesteros and Jose Manalo, said he's also thrilled about the success of his character Lola Nidora.

In an interview with Pep, Wally said that it felt good to be recognized, but what matters most to him is that he can make people laugh.

"Yun ang malaking reward sa amin. Nakakapagpasaya kami ng taong malungkot, may sakit. (That's the big reward for us. We cheer people up, those who are sad, who are sick.)

"Yun na ang malaking reward." (That's the great award.)

In an interview aired last August on Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, Wally said that they were surprised by the feedback they've been getting, especially from other parts of the world. 

"Natutuwa kami na inaabangan pala talaga nila, minsan-minsan iniisip namin bawat isa na hindi kaya na maraming nalulungkot kaya maraming gusto tumawa?" (We're happy that people really look forward to seeing us. Sometimes we think that are there many people who are sad, that's why they want to laugh?)

Wally said that he patterned Nidora after actress Celia Rodriguez and Jaclyn Jose.

Lola Nidora and second chances

In the same Pep interview, Wally said that of all the characters so far he played, it was Nidora who's had a special moment. Aside from Nidora, Wally also plays 3 other characters – Doctora, Nidora's granddaughter, Duhrizz, another granddaughter, and Rihanna the housekeeper.

In the beginning, many were annoyed at Nidora's participation as she was always in the way of Yaya Dub and Alden's love. However, people slowly began to like her, particularly for her words of wisdom.

"Hindi na masyadong galit sa dalawa [Alden at Yaya Dub]. (She's not really angry at the two anymore.)

“Parang pumapayag na siya. Marami na ang nagmamahal kay (She's starting to be more agreeable. Many of the followers love her) Lola sa AlDub Nation.”

The mega success of the kalyeserye is a huge comeback moment for Wally. In 2013, a sex video of Wally with a dancer from Eat Bulaga went viral. The show's management asked him to take a leave afterwards. (READ: Wally Bayola on life after the sex video scandal)

In 2014, he made an emotional comeback in the show, saying he has learned his lesson. 

Wally told Pep: “Masaya ako, lalo na sa mga mentors ko, yung mga unang-unang sabi ko na hindi ko sasayangin yung chance na ibinigay nila. (I'm very happy especially with my mentors, I said I wouldn't waste the chance they gave me.)

AlDub

In a separate Pep interview, Wally was asked for his reaction to the chemistry between Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards.

"Sa tingin ko sa kanilang dalawa, kung iisipin natin, sa tatlong buwan na araw-araw ganun ang ginagawa mo, pakilig, siguro may chance talaga na ma-develop na ganun,” he said. (I think with the two of them, if we think about it, in the 3 months that they see each other, that they make everyone giddy, there is a chance things will develop.)

Wally said that he has asked Maine about her true feelings for Alden. However, he said that Maine prefers to keep quiet.

MANILA, Philippines – Just a few months after skyrocketing to instant fame via the Eat Bulaga kalyeserye, Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza had her first interview with columinist and TV host Ricky Lo on CelebriTV, Saturday, October 3.

Maine is paired up with actor Alden Richards in Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye. As the storyline goes, she is Divina Ursula Buckbukoba Smash, Lola Nidora's nanny, who accompanies her everywhere she goes. In the July 16 episode while doing her Dubsmash skills, Alden's face was splashed on screen, and the rest is history. (READ: '#AlDub: The fun tandem of Alden Richards and 'Yaya Dub'')

Using fan signs, Maine, in character as Yaya Dub, answered questions about her sudden popularity and her true feelings for Alden.

Maine said she initially wanted to be a flight attendant but admitted her secret dream was to be in showbiz.

"Mas gusto ko pong mong mag-artista," she wrote. (I wanted to be in an actress)

She was also asked how her life was changed after the kalyeserye became a hit.

"Malaki pong nagbago, syempre yung privacy," (A lot of things changed, especially when it comes to privacy.)

According to Maine, she does not yet feel that she is famous despite the attention she's getting. Aside from Eat Bulaga, she is doing the movie My Bebe Love with Ai-Ai delas Alas, Vic Sotto and Alden and endorsement shoots.

Real status with Alden

With the success of the AlDub tandem, many are wondering if there's something more developing between Maine and Alden. In last week's episode, Yaya Dub uttered the words "it must be love!" When asked what she felt, she admittted she was flattered and got goosebumps.

She however declined to comment what she feels about Alden when she is not in character.

Maine was also asked about what loves about Alden aside from his dimples and she mentioned she liked his eyes. She also said that Alden is a gentleman.

When asked if she's seeing anyone, she wrote: "Yes po, free po."

If Alden ever plans to court her, Maine wrote: "Mag paalam lang po siya sa parents ko." (He should seek permission from my parents.)

Would Alden have a chance if he ever pursued her? Maine writes: "Di po natin masasabi. Possible naman." (I can't really say but it's possible.)

Two of the AlDub episodes trended worldwide, with their first date reaching 12.5 millions tweets. MANILA, Philippines – After the much anticipated first date of Yaya Dub and Alden Richards and the visit to Lola Nidora's mansion, it was Yaya Dub and Lola's turn to visit Alden and the gang at Eat Bulaga's studio in Broadway, Saturday, October 3.

The AlDub tandem became popular back in July when Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza met Alden during the "Juan For All, All for Juan" segment. In the kalyeserye, the characters are in love, but Lola Nidora, played by Wally Bayola, is initially against the relationship. (READ: #AlDub: The fun tandem of Alden Richards and 'Yaya Dub')

But it looks like their relationship is earning Lola's approval little by little. Here's what happened this week:

Lola Nidora scolded Alden for leaving immediately following his visit to the mansion last week. Nidora said that Alden left the food that she asked him to bring back to Broadway to give to the co-hosts of Eat Bulaga, thus the food was wasted and spoiled.

Meanwhile, Alden and Yaya decided to confess to Lola Nidora that they accidentally touched each other when Yaya drank water after nearly choking from the food she ate. Lola Nidora got angry with them, but eventually calmed down, saying she was happy the two were honest. However, Lola said she cannot give them her supposed surprise – a dinner-movie date with no chaperone.

Nidora together with Tidora and Tinidora reviewed the CCTV footage from the computer to verify if the two were telling the truth, which they were. Nidora reprimanded Yaya saying it was she who should have said sorry, and not Alden for making contact.

During the celebration of their 11th weeksary, it was Yaya's turn to give Alden a surprise. She sent a box of cupcakes she personally made for him. But the biggest surprise of all was yet to come. For the first time, she sang a song live to Alden and the audience cheered. It was a clear indication of the voice everyone has been waiting to hear since July.

In return, Alden gave her a card and flowers. Nidora meanwhile asked a favor from Tito, Joey and Allan who were at Broadway. She asked if she can bring Yaya and the sisters to Broadway and meet all the co-hosts of the show formally. All of them agreed.

This week also gave a quick look at Tinidora's sad love story. She received a phone call from a former love named Bill who wanted to see her. However she refused. But Bill showed up eventually, asking for forgiveness. Tinidora refused, saying she was hurt by his treatment of her. Bill then told her he will wait for her but Tinidora told him not to expect anything.

A day before the visit to the studio, Yaya, Nidora and Tinidora discussed in excitement what to do when they get there. They were able to talk with some of the co-hosts as well and Nidora once again saw her crush Jimmy Santos, who said he would wait for her. Everyone started teasing them. 

Alden meanwhile asked Nidora if he can kiss Yaya on the cheek when they meet, but she said no. She also reminded Alden the no-touch policy was still in effect and to stay one foot away from Yaya.

But Nidora had one more request. She asked Tito, Vic and Joey if they can serenade the sisters – Nidora, Tidora and Tinidora. All 3 were surprised with Vic saying: "Idadamay mo pa kami eh, nanonood lang kami dito!" (You're going to involve us? We're just watching!) Eventually, the 3 gave in, saying that they were going to do it for the AlDub fans.

Yaya meanwhile gave Alden another surprise. When Alden informed her he was going to Cebu for a meet and greet session, she took to the microphone and performed Mandy Moore's hit "Cry" live. Alden was once again caught off guard.

Finally, Tinidora, Nidora and Yaya made their way to the Broadway studio. Tinidora made a grand entrance dancing to "Mambo Number 5." Nidora meanwhile toured Yaya around the studio. The hosts meanwhile prepared the feast, while Alden also prepared himself  to meet Yaya and Lola Nidora.

Lola Nidora and Yaya were met by the hosts onstage and Lola introduced everyone to Yaya. Nidora meanwhile expressed her worries upon seeing where Alden and Yaya were going to sit. The hosts however assured her it would be fine. To calm Lola, Tito, Vic and Joey serenaded her.

After the song, Alden finally appeared with flowers and a basket of dried mangoes with chocolates for Yaya.  Once again,  Lola reminded them no touch and one foot apart.  She also tried to separate Yaya from  Alden, but the hosts led by Tito, Vic and Joey defended the two. Finally, Lola agreed for Alden to sit with Yaya on the table on one condition – that Alden must beat her in a game of rock, paper and scissors.

Allan K took Lola Nidora to the audience which gave Alden and Yaya time be close without being monitored. Afterwards, Lola talked to Tito, Vic and Joey about helping out in the Barangay project, in which she wants to involve herself in donating more chairs for schools. She also made another request – that she will bring Alden with them during their sugod bahay segment, while Yaya will stay with the hosts so she can learn more things from them. All of them agreed.

As they were having a good time, Lola got a call from Rihanna and she screamed in horror. What's the matter?

NEW YORK, USA –  It can't be easy to be the kid sister of the King of Pop, but Janet Jackson pulled it off in the 1980s as she became a music legend in her own right.

On her first studio album since Michael Jackson died in 2009, Janet channels him more than ever before, with her voice at times eerily reminiscent of her brother's.

Unbreakable– her 11th studio album, which came out worldwide on Friday, October 2 opens with a funky R&B title track that could easily be mistaken for posthumous Michael Jackson, with Janet singing in the short gasping-for-breath "hiccups" so identified with her brother and in a range that brings to mind his falsetto.

The opening track gradually quiets down to give the atmosphere of a cafe – a conversational theme Janet pursued on social media to promote the album – as she says: "Hello, it's been awhile. Lots to talk about. I'm glad you're still here."

Mourning Michael 

Indeed, Janet Jackson has plenty to talk about since her last album in 2008. Her brother's sudden death led her to withdraw from the spotlight to grieve but she re-emerged in 2011 with an 80-date tour to promote a greatest hits collection.

In 2012, she quietly married Qatari tycoon Wissam Al Mana and again shunned the limelight until earlier this year when she announced Unbreakable, for which she has started a 92-date arena tour of North America and Japan.

On "Broken Hearts Heal," a mellow, steady-beat R&B track on the album that steers clear of maudlin excess, Jackson eulogizes her brother as she remembers a childhood spent "around the brightest stars the world had seen" as they "danced and sang our way through most anything / always felt safe in each other's love."

"Our love ain't no material anything / Inshallah, see you in the next life," she sings, using the Arabic phrase for "God willing."

"After You Fall" harks back to Michael Jackson's most memorable ballads as the expressiveness of Janet's voice carries a tune over minimalist piano.

Janet remained close to her late brother, despite the notorious dysfunction elsewhere in his life and their troubled relationship with their domineering father.

Jaded by 'Rhythm Nation' 

But Unbreakable is more than a tribute to her late brother, as the 49-year-old Jackson goes retro with the sound that first defined her rather than dabbling in the latest trends.

"Burnitup!" is driven by a thumping bass, with rapper Missy Elliot pitching in to declare that, still, "Miss Jackson, she wear the crown." 

Jackson again worked with the songwriting team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who produced her blockbuster 1986 album Control which was a landmark in merging R&B and pop with the then emerging genre of hip-hop.

Jackson managed both to showcase sex appeal and pursue a socially conscious message, an inspiration for many younger stars, most notably Beyonce.

Yet the Janet Jackson of 2015 is more jaded than the singer who, in her famous 1989 song, rallied the masses of fans to be "part of the Rhythm Nation" and "join voices in protest of social injustice."

On "Shoulda Known Better," Jackson sounds exasperated at the prevalence of poverty and the inaction of critics who "only want to talk."

"I don't want my face to be that poster child for being naive," she sings.

"I had this great epiphany / And Rhythm Nation was the dream / I guess next time I'll know better."

Yet Jackson also has light moments on "Unbreakable," which runs over an hour. 

She closes with a fun-charging, 1970s-style funk tune, "Gon B Alright," and finally a snippet of her chatting in the studio.

Offering an ironic end to an often stern album, Jackson voices mock alarm at being caught unaware on the studio mic.

MANILA, Philippines – The trailer for the movie Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has been released.

The movie is based on the parody novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, which lists Austen a co-author. In the trailer, the Bennet sisters led by Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) are seen as well-bred and graceful women, enjoying the parties of the time. They laugh, bond, ride horses and spend time with the gentlemen.

Then out come the zombies and we see that the ladies don't need anyone to rescue them – they're well equipped to fight them on their own. 

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies comes out in 2016.

MANILA, Philippines – The trailer for the upcoming Sherlock Christmas special is here! Fans won't have to wait too long as the one-off episode, a period piece set in the 19th century, will debut in the Christmas season, though the 4th season is set to arrive sometime in 2016. 

We see Sherlock being his mysterious self in the moody video, which is awash in dark colors and gloomy tones. A distraught woman screams, "You promised to keep it safe, you promised!" (WATCH: First look at 'Sherlock' Christmas special) 

Still, we get some lighthearted moments as we see Watson tell Sherlock to "wear the damn hat," referring to Sherlock's famous deerstalker cap. And fans will undoubtedly be thrilled to hear actor Benedict Cumberbatch say "The name is Sherlock Holmes, the address is 221B Baker Street."

There is one scene in Joe Wright’s Pan that quickly emphasizes what is inherently wrong with the film.

Peter (Levi Miller), the 12-year old kid who gets spirited away from an orphanage in the middle of war-shocked London to Neverland, witnesses a tribal leader being shot by Captain Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman), from where he is hiding.

Wright, instead of lingering on the face of young Peter to depict the possible taint of seeing senseless death and violence from so close to his precious childhood, cuts to the next point in the narrative.

As if embarrassed to detail the effect of the death to the boy, the film focuses the attention to Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara), the tribal leader’s daughter, who is next to be executed if it were not for the horsetrading done by Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter’s friend and Tiger Lily’s love interest. 

Constant state of hurry

Pan is in a constant state of hurry.

It jumps from one spectacle to another with wild abandon. In fairness to the film, its Neverland is a bizarre beauty. Blackbeard’s base resembles an abominable symbol of capitalistic excess, with inexplicable contraptions towering over thousands of laborers who get paid nothing but are placated by rock anthems and feats of merciless violence.

The rest of Neverland, while bearing the generic look of Hollywood’s idea of a fantasy world, is intricately crafted with a bevy of neverending colors and textures.

However, Wright’s decision to dazzle eyes instead of pinching hearts paves the way to a rather witless adventure. The film lacks layers. Its unfettered rush to have Peter fulfill his destiny betrays all its potentials. In the end, it resembles a cartoon whose value is measured by the number of stunts and escapades it is able to muster. And that's within a narrative that is unremarkable in its inability to yearn for something more.

Innocence lost

Pan simply neglects the fact that at the heart of every children’s tale is the child and the virtue that he values most. Wright mistakes that virtue as wonderment, as in all the eye candy the film displays, or fantasy, as in the central idea that a lowly orphan can rise to become a hero of another world, when it should be innocence.

The film hungers for aches, for pain. Even in its portrayal of Peter’s relationship with the mother (Amanda Seyfried) he has never seen, the film peppers it with artificiality, such as when Wright chooses to have them interact through computer-generated glitters that remove a lot of emotion from the reunion and steal a lot of impact from Seyfried’s large, expressive eyes.

Wright simply covers up everything that could have grounded the film to the real world with all sorts of annoying gimmickry.

Jason Fuch’s screenplay however sets up the film, an imagined precursor to J. M. Barrie’s beloved bedtime story, in a world where reality is a place of desolation, and Neverland, while absolutely beautiful, is no different.

Peter’s London is a city where food is rationed, burning buildings are commonplace, and children are woken up from slumber by sirens alarming them of an impending air raid.

Neverland, on the other hand, is divided into two camps: Blackbeard’s crew of ruthless pirates who kidnap children to serve as free labor, and the others, free people who guard the secrets of the land.

Despite a milieu that is rich with possibilities, Wright steers the film into the arena of soulless marvel. The film places itself in a setting ripe for agony within the context of a child who pines for belongingness, but all it does with the setting is to turn it into a stage for slightly exhilarating battles. They ultimately mean nothing because none of the characters seem to mind the reality of death and torment. 

Cries and whimpers

Peter’s dilemma is ultimately his inability to fly as prophesied. He occupies the screen with a perennial whimper, betraying the mischief-ridden persona that makes the character such a treat when pitted against Wendy’s flighty attitude towards youth and adulthood and Captain Hook’s obsessions in Barrie’s novel. Simply put, Peter is an uninteresting hero with an uninteresting destiny.

As opposed to the genius differences in motives and perspectives of the characters in Barrie’s novel, the interactions in the film between Peter, Hook and Tiger Lily are all veiled in convenience. Hook plays the wisecracking sidekick beside Tiger Lily, the modern woman who affords the film a romantic twist despite it being a movie that centers on a kid.

It is all Hollywood wizardry, done stupendously wrong. Pan exemplifies an industry’s obsession for digging up treasures from the past only to bastardize them with innovations that make them the perfect products for worldwide consumption, only this time, such intentions cannot be kept hidden because it is rather obvious that underneath all the pomp is a whole lot of emptiness. – Rappler.com

NEW YORK, USA – Hillary Clinton will enjoy a roar of support from pop superstar Katy Perry, who has signed on to rally for her presidential campaign.

Perry – one of the top-selling pop stars of recent years who, at 76.3 million, has more Twitter followers than anyone, including President Barack Obama – will join Clinton in Iowa, the critical first state in the presidential nomination contest.

Clinton's campaign said, without further detail, that Perry would appear with Clinton on October 24 before the Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Des Moines, the Midwestern state's capital.

Perry's support of Clinton, who is vying to be the first female US president, is already well-known. 

Last year, Perry posted a picture of herself with the former secretary of state and senator and offered to write her campaign theme song.

She also performed at Obama's second inauguration and has used her social media power to spread the word on the president's signature reform expanding health care coverage.

The 30-year-old singer – who has released a string of blockbuster hits including "Roar," "Firework" and "Teenage Dream" – was raised in a conservative Christian household and does not generally bring politics into her music.

An exception is gay rights, of which Perry has been an outspoken proponent, and which she touched upon in her hit song "I Kissed a Girl."

Perry has been touring Latin America on the final leg of her year-and-a-half long tour to promote the album Prism, with the final date scheduled for October 18 in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Clinton is the front-runner to secure the Democratic nomination but has faced rising pressure on the left from Senator Bernie Sanders. 

Sanders has won endorsements of a number of musicians, although none with Perry's star power. The actor – who starred in Brokeback Mountain and Independence Day – and his wife Evi claimed asylum in Canada in 2010 saying they were in fear of their lives to escape a group they dubbed the "Hollywood Star Whackers."

They claimed it was a shadowy outfit of villains bent on killing American celebrities.

Border officials say the couple are fugitives from justice in the United States over alleged illegal squatting in a US home that they used to own.

The duo, said to have been living in Montreal since 2013, were stopped on Friday evening, October 9 attempting to cross into Vermont, Vermont State Police said.

They were detained and bail was set by a court judge at $500,000 each, before they were transferred to correctional centers. – Rappler.com

LOS ANGELES, USA – Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf, who starred in the blockbuster Transformers movies, has been arrested for being intoxicated in public, Texas police said.

The 29-year-old, who has had brushes with the law before, was arrested on Friday evening, October 9 in Austin, police said in a terse statement that included a mugshot of the actor in a simple blue T-shirt and sporting a scruffy beard.

The TMZ celebrity website quoted witnesses as saying that LaBeouf was arrested outside a bar and had allegedly ignored police orders after jaywalking in front of them, while behaving in an erratic manner.

In June last year LaBeouf was hauled before a New York court, charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct at a Broadway musical, but was subsequently released. (READ: Shia LaBeouf says he was raped at art show)

LaBeouf, who also starred in 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has similarly made headlines for his sometimes outlandish behavior.

MANILA, Philippines – Mocha Girls’ lead singer Mocha Uson weighed in on the recent controversy involving the performance of the sexy group Playgirls at a lawmaker's birthday party following a Liberal Party (LP) event in Laguna.

In an interview with the singer at ATC Healthcare’s 10th anniversary Saturday, October 10, where the Mocha Girls performed a dance number for the crowd, Mocha explained that putting a sexy show was acceptable, depending on the situation. (READ: Sexism, 'Playgirls', and the Liberal Party)

“Dapat nasa lugar ‘yung ating gagawing page-entertain sa tao,” she said. (We should entertain people properly.)

“Halimbawa, kung alam naman nating may mga bata sa audience or may mga pamilyadong mga tao dapat ilulugar natin yung ating performance. ‘Yung suot natin at saka yung ating gagawin sa stage.” (Example, if we know there are kids in the audience or members of the family present, we should entertain correctly, what we wear and what we do onstage.)

As most cannot help but compare their group to Playgirls, Mocha was asked if they would be willing to perform at a political event, if asked. 

“Okay lang naman na mag-perform sa ganung klaseng event pero dapat ilugar mo ‘yung costume mo, ilugar mo rin yung gagawin mong pagsayaw tapos susundin mo rin syempre kung ano yung sasabihin sayo, kung ano yung nasa programa,” she said.

(It's okay to perform at those type of events but you have to be ready. Make sure the costume, the dancing is right and of course, follow what they will tell you, what's in the program.)

“Siyempre bilang performer ang gusto mo ma-entertain ‘yung tao at hindi maging awkward ‘yung environment.” (As a performer, you want to entertain the people and not to be awkward in your environment.)

Mocha said that it was important for performers to listen to what the organizers would say to avoid any misunderstandings. She added that there is a huge difference between performing in bars and in private events.

“Kasi kami pag nag-perform sa bar, wala namang limit ‘yun. Pero halimbawa sa mga events, sinusunod namin ‘yung kung ano ‘yung sasabihin ng client,” she said. (For us, when we perform at bars, there's no limit. But for example in events, we follow the specifications from the client.) 

The Mocha Girls are an all-female singing and dancing group. They have released 4 albums and toured the Philippines and abroad.

SAN FRANCISCO, USA – US President Barack Obama offered advice Saturday, October 10 to Kanye West on the rapper's improbable White House bid – telling him that reality TV might be good training for Washington.

West, who has declared with an unclear degree of seriousness that he will run for president in 2020, was performing at a fundraiser for Obama's Democratic Party in San Francisco.

Addressing supporters who paid up to $10,000 a ticket, teased that he had campaign advice for West, who is married to reality television star Kim Kardashian.

"First of all, you've got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show," Obama said to laughter.

Obama joked that the background of West – like Obama, an African-American who spent formative years in Chicago – may not be entirely far-fetched for the presidency.

"Do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy," Obama said to applause. 

But Obama noted that the title of one of West's albums may prove to be a political liability. 

"Saying you have a 'Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' – that's what's known as 'off-message' in politics," Obama said, referring to West's chart-topping 2010 album. 

Obama did not resist taking a jab at the rival Republican Party, whose leadership in the House of Representatives is in disarray, saying that he heard "Kanye is thinking of running for speaker of the House."

West, who is known for his brash self-confidence and has likened himself to Michelangelo, declared in August at the MTV Video Music Awards that he plans to run for president in 2020.

The rapper's aspirations earlier won unlikely praise from real estate mogul Donald Trump, the acerbic front-runner in the Republican presidential race for 2016.

WASHINGTON DC, USA – Michelle Obama has revealed musical tastes that include Beyonce and past greats such as Billie Holiday as she released a first playlist on streaming service Spotify.

Following a separate playlist by her husband, the US first lady released her own on Sunday, October 11 for the International Day of the Girl, part of a UN campaign to end extreme poverty by improving education and health for women and girls worldwide.

Obama opened her playlist with a contemporary anthem to female empowerment – "Run the World (Girls") by Beyonce.

The choice is not entirely surprising as Beyonce and her husband Jay Z have been political supporters of the Obamas.

Last month, Beyonce brought Michelle Obama on stage at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, where the first lady urged a campaign to bring education to the estimated 62 million girls around the world who are out of school.

Obama also picked "Survivor" by Beyonce's former band Destiny's Child as well as songs by contemporary singers including Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Janelle Monae.

She also reached back to classics including Holiday's 1944 version of "On the Sunny Side of the Street," Diana Ross's hit 1970 take on "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and, closing the playlist, Aretha Franklin's signature song "Respect."

While the playlist, in line with the theme, is overwhelmingly female, men were represented with a song by Norwegian rappers Nico & Vinz.

The only other men on the playlist came on "My Shot," a tune from the acclaimed Broadway hip-hop musical "Hamilton," composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

President Barack Obama released two playlists of his own in August on Spotify, the most popular streaming platform, during his summer vacation.

MANILA, Philippines – Singer-actress Denise Laurel got the judges' attention on Your Face Sounds Familiar, Sunday, October 11, when she appeared as Lea Salonga on the show.

Denise, who stars in Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita, performed the song "Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal," which is also the title of a movie starring Lea and Aga Muhlach.

Jed Madela, Sharon Cuneta, and Gary Valenciano praised Denise for her performance.

“You sounded like her, you looked like her, and even, you projected like her,” Jed said, adding that it was one of his favorite performances.

Sharon meanwhile said it was "perfect" while Gary told Denise her talent was underrated and that he's looking forward to seeing her more as Denise Laurel.

"But tonight, you showed us you were Lea Salonga  and if I knew how to reach her, even if she’s flying to wherever she’s going, sasabihan ko talaga (I would tell her), ‘Lea, you need to see her. She convinced us dito sa 'Your Face Sounds Familiar' that we were watching Lea Salonga,’” Gary said.

After hearing about Denise's performance, Lea congratulated her on Twitter, saying she was proud of her.

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Kim Chiu weighed in on her friend and movie co-star Kris Aquino’s decision to back out from their 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, a film with Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista and Xian Lim. At ATC Healthcare’s 10^th anniversary Saturday, October 10, Kim admitted that she felt a bit disappointed with Kris’ decision. She added that she was looking forward to doing the movie, saying that it had been years since she was part of the festival since Shake, Rattle and Roll X (2008) and I Love You, Goodbye (2009). 

“Nung pinost nya ‘yung ‘I’m sorry, I’m a jerk’ sa Instagram. Sabi ko, ‘Ate, hindi ka ganun.’ (Sister, you aren't like that.)  

“Irespeto na lang natin siya. Siguro naman naka-gain na siya ng respect from each and everyone sa industriyang ito and sa mga fans niya.”

(Let us respect her. I would think that she has already gained respect from each and everyone in this industry, and her fans.)  

Kim also gave a short statement about rekindling her friendship with Maja Salvador. The two have since reconciled after their controversial rift over Gerald Anderson. Maja and Gerald recently broke up. Before dating Maja, Gerald dated Kim.

“Friends talaga kami, saka maganda mag-forgive kaysa may burden ka sa buong buhay mo. Mas masaya mas walang kaaway,” she said.

On upcoming movies, Piolo Pascual 

Although Kim refused to reveal details of a possible upcoming movie, the actress shared that she will be more than thrilled if heartthrob Piolo Pascual could be her leading man. She added that she has always wanted to do a movie with him.

“Kahit sino naman gustong maging leading man si Papa P [nickname for Piolo]. Parang ‘pag artista, ang gusto mo talagang leading man kapag tinanong ka,‘Papa P.’”

(Anyone would want Papa P to be her leading man! When it comes to an artist, you'd choose Papa P to be the leading man, if asked.)

Mild spoiler alert: In the film, Piolo appears at the end as Kim's love interest after she leaves her previous relationship. 

“Biglaan nga ‘yung pag-aya sa kanya kasi ‘yung ending sabi nila naghahanap kami ng leading man. Nung tinanong si Papa P sobra kaming happy and sobra kaming thankful na pumayag siya talaga.”

 (It happened in a rush, for the ending, they were saying that we needed to find a leading man. We were very happy and thankful that Papa P agreed to the part.) 

When asked how her love team partner and rumored boyfriend Xian Lim reacted to the possibility of her doing a movie with Piolo, Kim said that he is happy for her. She added that Xian is also busy with his new movie, where he is paired up with Angel Locsin.

“Umiikot-ikot naman ‘yan. Pero meron din kaming project na kaming dalawa, ‘yung teleserye namin next year.”

MANILA, Philippines – After her successful comeback movie, Etiquette for Mistresses, Claudine Barretto is gearing up for another film under Star Cinema and Viva Films titled Pinilit Kong Limutin Ka.  

In an interview at the book signing of the reprinted version of Julie Yap Daza’s novel Etiquette for Mistresses, Sunday, October 11, Claudine shared that she is extremely happy to be back to work on screen. She thanked her fans for their continuous support even after her showbiz hiatus.

“Sobrang thankful talaga ako. Up to this day nao-overwhelm ako sa sobrang daming magagandang reviews [for Etiquette]. At saka ‘yung pagmamahal talaga ng mga tao hindi lang ng Claudinians, kundi ng maraming tao para sa akin,” she said.

(I'm so thankful. Up to this day, I still feel overwhelmed by so many beautiful reviews [for Etiquette]. And the love of the people not only the Claudinians, but others, too.)

“After 5 years, malaking bagay kasi ‘yun eh. Talagang na-boost ‘yung self-esteem at self-confidence ko. Ngayon na-feel ko na, ‘Ay mahal pa pala ako dito sa industriya.’”

(After 5 years, this is big for me. It boosted my self-esteem and self-confidence. Now, I feel 'Oh, they still love me in the industry.')

Although the actress refused to reveal further details about the cast, she said that that it will be a good follow up project to Etiquette.

“Confidential pa ‘yung leading man pero naka-trabaho ko na [before],” she hinted.

“Para maka-trabaho ko ulit si Direk Wenn [Deramas], parang binibigay talaga sakin ni God, saka ng Star Cinema at Viva ‘yung komportable ako makatrabaho hindi ‘yung nangangapa pa ako.” (To work with Direk Wenn, it's like God is giving me, as well as Star Cinema and Viva, people I'm comfortable working with, so I won't have to flail or adjust.)  

On Raymart Santiago

The Kapamilya star said that she and Raymart are now on better terms. She explained that they have decided against talking about their relationship in public, adding that they wanted to focus on the well-being of their children.

“Kung wala naman kaming magandang masasabi tungkol sa isa’t isa, ngayon ha, ‘yung ugali namin ngayon, pagsasama namin ngayon, eh quiet na lang. Basta ang alam ko solid kami sa mga bata.” (If we have nothing nice to say about each other, our attitude towards it is we're just quiet about it. What's important is we're solid with our kids.)

“‘Yung mag court hearings, sana matapos na ‘yan. Pero wala eh, hindi naman sa akin lahat, kailangan din sila gumalaw,” she said.

(I hope the court hearings will finish soon. But unfortunately, that's not the case, it's not with me always, they also have to move.)

On Dennis Padilla and Julia Baretto

After 3 years, Claudine will be spending Christmas with Marjorie and her children again. The actress shared that they are all excited to catch up over the holidays.

Amidst all the reconciliation, Julia’s conflict with her father Dennis Padilla has yet to be resolved. When Claudine was asked about Dennis’ decision to withdraw his petition to stop Julia from changing her family name from Baldivia to Barretto, the actress admitted that she was not privy to all the details of the story. “Hindi ko alam kasi ‘di ko nabasa, ‘di ko napanood kung anong eksaktong sinabi [ni Dennis]. Kung anong nangyari ‘di ko naiintindihan. ‘Di ko alam ‘yun eh,” she explained.

(I'm not aware of it because I've nto read about it, I have not watched what he [Dennis] said. What's happening, I really cannot understand it,so I'm not privy to it.)

In the end, Claudine shared that what happened was probably for the best. This way, she said that the issue would finally be put to rest.

“Siguro nga mas magandang desisyon ‘yun, para tahimik na lang. Kasi at the end of the day, si Julia lagi nilang tinitira eh. Sobra na rin naman. Okay na ‘yun. Tigil na lang.” (I guess the best decision is for them to be quiet. Because at the end of the day, it's Julia who get's criticized. It's too much. It's okay already. That's enough.)

Claudine added that they should give Julia their full support as a family.

"Kailangan siguro tulungan kami kay Julia, kung ano yung mga proble-problema. ‘Wag sanang magyari sa generation nila Julia yung nangyari sa generation namin,” she said. (I guess all of us need to help Julia with whatever problem she has. I'm hoping that what happened to my generation will not happen to her generation.)

OTWOL memorable scenes

The two stars also shared their favorite and most memorable scenes from the show since it began airing last August. One of the most talked about scenes was when James' character Clark, and Jigs, played by Albie Casiño appeared topless in one scene.

Nadine shared that she was laughing throughout that scene.

"Actually yun din yung pinag-uusapan namin kanina. Sobra lang po ako tawa nang tawa, kami pong dalawa actually. Nakakatawa po kasi silang dalawa. Nang lumabas po si Albie na topless na, ako po kasi yung unang makakakita, si James nakatalikod.

(Actually, we were talking about it. I was really laughing, both of us. Both of them were funny. When Albie appeared topless, I was the first to see it, while James had his back turned.) 

"So pag nakita ko si Albie, si James yung tinitingnan ko, kasi hindi ko kasi matimgnan si Albie kasi talagang natatawa ako, Nadine said. (So when I saw Albie, I was looking at James because I really could not look at Albie, I was trying to contol my laughter.)

As for the famous goodbye scene at the airport, Nadine said she thought of her own family to emote. 

James said: "Madali ako pumasok sa eksena (I really got into the scene) kasi it's so emotional as in I didn't have much time, I didn't have time to prepare... I was so into the character, it was such an emotional scene so I just jumped in."

The two also consider the "Most Approved Kiss" one of their favorite scenes. That scene involved Leah getting her green card and Clark carrying her before the kiss.

"Nagulat din po kami nung pinalabas kasi nung ginawa po namin iyon, tatlong kiss lang po iyon. Nagulat po kami nung pinalabas na kasi ang dami po eh, katabi ko yung mom ko," Nadine said. 

(We were surprised when that came out because when we shot the scene, we just did 3 kisses. We were surprised when it came out because that was a lot, I was next to my mom.) 

Filipino courtship

After the scenes from the US, On The Wings Of Love now shifts to Manila as Clark follows Leah and tries to win her back. Also, Clark must now work hard to earn the trust of Leah's dad Mang Sol (Joel Torre) who was upset to find out Leah married without his consent, thus Clark must go through the Filipino tradition of courtship.

"I think this time around, the joke is on Clark. I think the first time it was Leah who had a hard time adjusting," said James. "Nililigawan ni Clark si  (Clark is courting) Tatang Sol, he’s always messing around. Si Tatang Sol is always palabiro (kidding around). So he’s messing with Clark. I call him your highness Sol. It’s actually funny," he said. 

As for the most memorable scene for the challenges James said:  "The most memorable was yung pinalasing nila ako (when they got me drunk)."

'OTWOL' until 2016

Meanwhile, Deo Edrinal, head of Dreamscape, made a special announcement saying that that the show is extended until next year. Both James and Nadine could not help but be happy over the news.

The baby announcement comes after Chrissy shared in an interview a few weeks ago about their struggle to conceive.  In an interview on the show FabLife which she and Tyra Banks host, Chrissy said it was a difficult process.

"We would have had kids 5, 6 years ago if it had happened. But, my gosh, it’s been a process,” she said.
