MANILA, Philippines – It was a sad day for many fans when Philippine showbiz icon German "Kuya Germs" Moreno died Friday, January 8.
Many took to Twitter to express their condolence and pay tribute to Kuya Germs. His death drew a total of 160,000 tweets from January 7 to January 8. (READ: Stars mourn death of German 'Kuya Germs' Moreno)

The hashtag reached its first peak at 2:30 am, with 280 tweets per minute, on January 8, when news of Kuya Germs' death first made rounds on social media. It was later clarified that at the time, Kuya Germs was only in a coma.
It was confirmed later that the comedian and TV host had really died, causing the number of tweets to increase again.
The highest number of tweets per minute was 290, and they first reached that number at 7:29 am.
