'Game of Thrones' actor Peter Vaughan dies

MANILA, Philippines – Peter Vaughan, who starred in Game of Thrones and Porridge, has died at 93.

In an article released on Tuesday, December 6 in the Philippines, the BBC reported that Vaughan's agent Sally Long-Innes said: "This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10:30 this morning. He died peacefully with his family around him."

Vaughan played Maester Aemon in Game of Thrones, the elderly maester in the Night's Watch. He was also known for his role as Grouty in the '70s sitcom Porridge.

He played a recurring role in Citizen Smith, and his portrayal of a man with Alzheimer's disease in Our Friends in the North earned him a Best Actor nomination in the 1997 British Academy Television Awards. – Rappler.com
