MANILA, Philippines – Apartel is a powerhouse of a collective, and they're heading to the Rappler HQ for another awesome episode of Live Jam on Wednesday, August 10.
This band is composed of the singer-songwriter duo of Ely Buendia (Eraserheads, The Oktaves, and Pupil) and Jay Ortega (Gnash and DRT) at the helm – plus Coco Coo (guitars), RJ Pineda (from The Brat Pack; piano/keys), Redge Concepcion (guitars), and Pat Sarabia (from Wilderness; on drums/percussion).
They're a supergroup with members that come from established bands, yes, but as an old saying goes – "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" – Apartel demonstrates it well.
When they play, they create this grand, soulful, and funky soundscape that recalls the good ol' '70s – but still fresh, of course.
"Apartel comes out as more than any individual styles they are known for," writes Zach Lucero for Radio Republic.
Come through, and enjoy Apartel's swinging tunes! – Rappler.com
