MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2015 1st runner-up Ariadna Gutiérrez has been cast in the upcoming movie xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, opposite Vin Diesel.
According to a report from People magazine, Ariadna, Colombia's representative to Miss Universe 2015 in Las Vegas last December, will play the love interest of Vin Diesel's character in the movie.
Ariadna joins the cast which includes Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, and Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, UFC Featherweight Champion Connor McGregor, and martial arts star Donnie Yen.
TMZ reported that Ariadna flew to the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, March 1 to film her scenes. This will be Ariadna's first movie, which is scheduled for a 2017 release.
Ariadna came into the spotlight after she was mistakenly announced as the winner of the Miss Universe pageant last December by Steve Harvey. The Philippines' Pia Wurtzbach was declared as the actual winner of the pageant.
Following the pageant, Ariadna admitted that she felt humiliated by the experience. In January, she and Steve finally spoke with each other, and the host personally apologized for his mistake.
Since the pageant, Ariadna has appeared in magazine covers in Latin America and has guested on various TV shows. – Rappler.com
