MANILA, Philippines – Supermodel Tyra Banks is adding mom to her list of achievements. The America's Next Top Model's creator confirmed the news that she and boyfriend, photographer Erik Asla welcomed son York Banks Asla via surrogate.

Tyra posted a message on Instagram with a photo of a baby bonnet.

"The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world," she wrote.

In a statement sent to People magazine, Tyra said that she and Erik were delighted with York's arrival, saying it was not an easy journey for them to have a child.

“As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day. My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms,” Tyra said.

In an interview with People last year, Tyra admitted that she always wanted to be a mother, and that it was painful trying to conceive via IVF.

"I've had some not happy moments with that, very traumatic moments," Tyra shared. "It's difficult as you get older. It's not something that can just happen."

Tyra is currently hosting her new show Tyra Presents FABLife.– Rappler.com
