MANILA, Philippines - The Kia Theatre was filled with stars on Sunday, December 27, as the Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night took place.
The biggest winner at the event was Walang Forever, which took home Best Picture, and whose stars Jennylyn Mercado and Jericho Rosales took home Best Actress and Best Actor. (FULL LIST: Winners, MMFF 2015 awards night)
Honor Thy Father won many awards too, including Best Director for Erik Matti. Matti did not show up at the event, but he did have a representative read out a statement addressing his film's disqualification from the Best Picture category.
Meanwhile, KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez hosted the evening.
There were a number of performances that night, including child actor Alonzo Muhlach's performance of "Dessert" by Dawin. The stars of Haunted Mansion, Janella Salvador and Marlo Mortel had a number too.
There were a lot of child actors in this year's lineup of entries. This year, Honor Thy Father's Krystal Brimner won the Best Festival Child Performer award.
Some of the actors from the films presented the awards, like Liza Dino from Toto and Mon Confiado from Mandirigma. Other presenters were members of the industry too, or MMFF committee members.
There were awards given for both the New Wave (independent) films, and the mainstream films. Thou Reyes won Best Supporting Actor for the New Wave film Toto, for example, while Jennylyn Mercado won Best Actress for the film Walang Forever.
The night ended after the Best Actress winner was announced.
The movies from this year's MMFF are still in theaters – all of them were released on December 25. The festival kicked off with the annual Parade of Stars on December 23.
