MANILA, Philippines – Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza – the tandem also known as AlDub – topped the list of Top 10 Google trends in the Philippines for 2015.
According to a press release from Google, the popular tandem from Eat Bulaga's kalyeserye got millions of views online. The series, which is aired during Eat Bulaga's "Juan for All For Juan" segment, tells the story of Alden and Maine's character, Yaya Dub, who are in love with each other. Since the AlDub tandem was born, it has trended worldwide on Twitter, breaking the record held by the World Cup in 2014.
In the same press release, Maine was named top trending female personality, while Alden was the second top trending male personality. Pope Francis holds the number one position in the male category.
Overall, Pope Francis was in second place, while the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was in 3rd place.
