MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Among the latest to join the stream of headlines as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit winds down: presidential sister and TV personality Kris Aquino's comments on Instagram accompanying a post about her post-APEC sunburn.
Comments on her post said she was insensitive to compare her sunburn to the struggles that commuters faced during the APEC.
UPDATE: On Saturday morning, November 21, Kris apologized for her post about her sunburn, saying, "I humbly apologize for my failed attempt at self-depracating humor Thursday night that came across as being spoiled and insensitive."

Kris participated in a number of entertainment and cultural presentations prepared for the foreign guests, including a tour of historic Intramuros in Manila, organized by Kris and her sisters Viel Aquino-Dee, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, and Pinky Aquino-Abellada.
In the evening on Thursday, November 19, Kris said she got a sunburn after the day's events and referred to commuters' difficulties with road traffic during the summit.

The part about being "quits" with commuters, in the latter part of what was meant to be a lighthearted anecdote, did not sit well with social media users. During the APEC summit, the government closed several major roads in Metro Manila, causing very heavy trafficand forcing many commuters to walk for hours to get to work.
One user, oishishi, wrote: "Paano naging kwits madam??? Hindi naman kami umarte sa initan gaya mo. Pumasok kami sa mga opisina dahil kailangan namin ng pera. Oo choice namin pumasok, choice mo din yan, wag mong icompare ang sunburn mo sa hirap ng mga commuters. I love you, but this post is too insensitive."
(How are we even? We weren't under the sun for the same reasons as you. We went to work because we need money. Yes, it was our choice to go to work, just like this was your choice. Don't compare your sunburn to the hardships of the commuters. I love you, but this post is too insensitive."

Some comments among the over 1,200 left by Instagram users supported Kris and asked other people not to bash her anymore, while others left sunburn care tips for Kris.
