MANILA, Philippines – Celebrity stylist Liz Uy is set to file 6 libel complaints and one slander complaint against Michael Sy Lim of Fashion Pulis on Monday, November 9.
In a text to Rappler, Uy's lawyer, Irene Besido-Garcia, said that Uy's complaints are being filed over the content in two posts on Lim's blog about Maine Mendoza.
Many of the commenters on the two posts criticized Uy for letting Mendoza wear clothes that have been worn before.
Maine is also known as "Yaya Dub," the viral sensation and breakout star of the show Eat Bulaga. Aside from those two posts, the complaints are also being filed because of Lim's posts on Twitter.
Besido-Garcia is a senior partner at Kapunan, Garcia, and Castillo Law Offices. Besido-Garcia's partner, Lorna Kapunan, is also serving as Uy's counsel for the complaints.
On October 29, a Fashion Pulispost captioned "Stylist Makes Maine Mendoza Wear Recycled Gown on Historical TV Event" shows a picture of actress Kim Chiu and one of Maine wearing the same Francis Libiran gown at different events.
The TV event mentioned was Eat Bulaga's "AlDub: Sa Tamang Panahon" on October 24, where actor Alden and Yaya Dub met in person – as opposed to just seeing each other on screen – for the first time.
Uy styled Mendoza for the event. She has also been styling Mendoza for her TV commercials.
On Instagram, Libiran released a statement saying that Eat Bulaga Production purchased the gown for the event. Chiu modeled the gown at the "Francis Libiran Metrowear Icon" fashion show in 2013, but it "has not been worn at any other event by any other celebrity."

On Stylebible.ph, Uy said, "Maine’s gown was chosen among several gowns because its style best fitted the show’s Cinderella theme. The gown, which was first showcased at Francis Libiran’s fashion show as part of his Bangalore collection, was purchased by Tape, Inc. for the event.”
Another Fashion Pulis post also dated October 29 reads, "Insta Scoop: Liz Uy Makes Maine Mendoza Wear Same Jacket She Wore Weeks Ago in Preview Photoshoot."
In the post, a photo of Mendoza from Preview magazine's November cover is followed by a photo from Uy's Instagram. They are wearing similar jackets.
Mendoza's photo shoot for Preview was styled by the magazine's creative director Vince Uy. Liz Uy is the magazine's Fashion Editor-at-Large.
According to Stylebible.ph, Vince Uy picked the clothes for the September 30 shoot from Gucci’s Cruise 2016 collection and they were flown in exclusively. Because of Preview's policy on the confidentiality of cover shoots, "Liz could not have known that Maine had worn the same piece in one of the six layouts she had for the shoot."
This is not Lim's first incident with libel this year. In August, he was arrested over a libel case filed by Deniece Cornejo. Lim posted Cornejo's medical report, which was leaked by Healthway. The medical report was taken after Cornejo was allegedly raped by actor Vhong Navarro. In the report, Healthway concluded that Cornejo may have a sexually transmitted disease. – Rappler.com
