MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte let slide Agot Isidro's Facebook post calling him a "psychopath," saying the actress has the right to say what she wants.
"May nagalit isang artista sa akin na ano raw ako, psychopath. Well, I leave her to her constitutional right to free expression," said Duterte on Tuesday, October 11, during the oath-taking of government officials. (An actress got mad at me, calling me a psychopath.)
Isidro, on October 7, posted on Facebook her frustration with Duterte's dare to the United States and European Union to withdraw their developmental aid from the Philippines.
After criticizing Duterte for acting as if the Philippines, a third world country, is a "superpower" and condemning poor Filipinos to hunger, Isidro had said: "Patingin ka, hindi ka bipolar. You are a psychopath." (You should have yourself checked. You're not bipolar. You are a psychopath.)
Duterte said on Tuesday that Isidro should take advantage of her right to freedom of expression.
"She should enjoy that," said the President.
Duterte has demanded that world leaders refrain from criticizing him "publicly" about his controversial drug war.
He advised them to course their concerns through the United Nations and only after a thorough investigation of his drug war. – Rappler.com
