MANILA, Philippines – Hidilyn Diaz won the Philippines its first Olympic medal in 20 years and her story will soon be told on the long-running series Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).
In the trailer for the episode, released on YouTube on Wednesday, September 21, Jane Oineza plays Hidilyn, who won a silver medal in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the women's 53-kg weightlifting division.

A young Hidilyn is also shown in the trailer, where she's invited to join a group of boys trying out weightlifting. After she is invited over, one of them says, "Hindi niya 'yan kaya, babae 'yan eh." (She can't do it, she's a girl.)
Hidilyn is also the first female from the Philippines to win an Olympic medal and the first non-boxer to win a medal for the country since 1936.
