In an excerpt of the show released on Wednesday, September 7, political satirist Stephen Colbert, started off with a rundown of President Obama's weekend, consisting of a visit to China for the G20 Summit, then to Laos for the ASEAN Summit and related Summits.
In China, a miscommunication led to Obama having to use metal airplane stairs when he landed, instead of the usual red carpet welcome.
"And airport stairs weren't the only thing insulting President Obama," said Colbert as he explained that Obama and Duterte's' September 5 meeting was canceled because of reports that the Philippine leader called his US counterpart a "son of a whore."
"Look, I don't know how they do things in the Philippines, but over here, we do not attack the woman who gave birth to the President, okay? We attack where she gave birth to him," joked Colbert.
The comedian also brought up that Duterte has called US Ambassador Philip Goldberg and Pope Francis the same.
