MANILA, Philippines – Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift's breakup in June surprised fans and took social media by storm.

Not only was the breakup a surprise – the two posted sweet photos of their one-year anniversary in March – but it was followed weeks after by Taylor's relationship with Tom Hiddleston and the revelation that she had a hand in Calvin's hit song with Rihanna, "This Is What You Came For."

In an excerpt of the October issue of British GQ, Calvin spoke about the breakup and the social media aftermath that followed.

"It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly," he told the magazine. "The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself."

Calvin added that when they were together, they decided to keep their relationship private. "I'm not good at being a celebrity," said Calvin, and Taylor respected that.

"But when it ended, all hell broke loose," Calvin continued. "Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realize that none of that matters. I'm a positive guy."

A day after their breakup, Calvin tweeted– and Taylor retweeted – that there was no bad blood between them.

But when reports came out that Taylor Swift co-wrote "This Is What You Came For," Calvin took to Twitter to criticize his ex:

"I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do. I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Perry], etc. but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it."

In his tweets, Calvin was referring to Taylor's then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston and to her long-standing feud with pop star Katy Perry.

"For both of us it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn't right, so it ended, but all of the stuff that happened afterwards..." finished Calvin.

Reports of Taylor and Tom's relationship broke just weeks after Calvin and Taylor were reported to have broken up. Tom and Taylor reportedly broke up on September 7, after 3 months of dating.– Rappler.com
