MANILA, Philippines – Lionsgate Films released a trailer to what has been revealed as the sequel to 1999 horror film The Blair Witch Project at San Diego Comic-Con, Friday, July 22 (Saturday, July 23 in Manila).
Originally titled The Woods, the film was screened at Comic-Con, but viewers were not given any clues that it is actually a sequel to the original found footage horror film. It has now been revealed that the movie would be simply known as Blair Witch.
In Blair Witch, a group of students heads into Black Hills Forest after the disappearance of James' sister, Heather (from the original film), who is said to have a connection to the local Blair Witch legend.
They experience terror when a malevolent presence starts to attack them and soon realize that the legend may be true after all.
In 2000, a movie called Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 was released but did not follow the found footage format of the original and was not as successful in the box office.
The new film is scheduled for release on September 16. – Rappler.com
