MANILA, Philippines – Actress Alma Moreno admitted that she was not pleased with the parody Twitter account @LovelinessAlma, which poked fun at her during the campaign season.
In an interview on DZMM, Wednesday May 11, Moreno, who ran for Senator but didn't make the top 12, said of the parody account: "Masyado naman ako pinaglalaruan. Masyado naman ako binabastos na. Masakit." (It made fun of me too much. It was too disrespectful. It was hurtful.)
"Ewan ko kung sino iyan na ayaw ako tigilan," the actress said. "Ano ba naman to? Talo na nga ako, ano pa nginingitngit nito? Bakit kailangan ako maliin nang maliin? Kung anu-ano pinaglalagay."
(I don't know who's behind it, who doesn't want to stop. What is this? I already lost, what is this raving about? Why does it need to make me sound like I'm always wrong? It's putting up random things.)
Shortly after the elections, May 9, @LovelinessAlma posted tweets that made fun of her, such as "I conceive! Good night," and "Whoever wins tomorrow will be declared the winner."
She said that Wynwyn and Yeoj Marquez, her children with ex-husband Joey Marquez, assisted in reporting the account to Twitter.
The Twitter account has been deactivated, but screenshots of its tweets still circulate online.
(As I said, it's as if the person has nothing better to do. If you have nothing better to do, shouldn't you keep quiet? For me, I'll just pray for the person. I'll lift this up to the Lord. Anyway, I would rather not bother with this anymore.)
The said parody account supposedly surfaced after Moreno's interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila. Following her interview, the hashtag #PrayForAlma trended, when netizens questioned how she answered during the interview. (READ: Alma Moreno speaks up on Karen Davila interview)
Moreno's ex-husband Joey Marquez and son Vandolph, who was elected as councilor in Parañaque City, admitted that they were upset by how the interview came out. Vandolph said that her mother was "humilated" by Davila.
Regarding her unsuccessful bid for the senate, Moreno told the DZMM anchors that she has accepted the outcome: "Akala nga ng lahat masyado daw depressed ako, dahil daw natalo. Sabi ko, 'Hindi.' Maluwag kong tinanggap na ako ay hindi sinuwerte."
(Everyone thought I was depressed because I did not win. I said, 'No.' I wholeheartedly accepted that I did not strike lucky this time.)
As of May 12, 4:56pm, with 95.85% precincts reporting, Moreno has not made the top 12 to be elected as a member of the Senate. She was part of the senatorial slate of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
