MANILA, Philippines – Eddie Redmayne was at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards that aired on Sunday, April 10 (Monday, April 11 in Manila). There, he unveiled astounding new footage from the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Eddie Redmayne plays magizoologist Newt Scamander, who Hogwarts students know as the author of the seminal book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
This time, however, the scenes are set away from the highlands of Hogwarts Castle. Instead, we see flapper outfits and bustling streets – this is 1920s New York City.
In the trailer, we see Scamander arriving at Ellis Island, the old immigration inspection center. He faces the customs officer at the pier, as his briefcase shudders with a whole menagerie of magical creatures inside.
"Anything edible in there? Any livestock?" the officer asks, as Scamander clicks a magical switch to make it "Muggle Worthy" and replies, "No."
New footage in the trailer also shows the American wizarding community's government, the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) in session, plus Colin Farrell's Percival Graves, the auror who runs after Scamander when his creatures are unleashed from his briefcase. Thus, we also get to see a whole lot of spectacular wand duels and the like.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits cinemas on November 17. – Rappler.com
