MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The vice-presidential debate took place at the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday, April 10, and many celebrities and personalities shared their thoughts about it on social media.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Chiz Escudero, Senator Gringo Honasan, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr, and Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo, individuals seeking the second highest office in the land, sounded off on crucial issues, including corruption, poverty, political dynasties, human rights, traffic and other urban issues, Internet connectivity and foreign policy – plus the concern that the VP is just a "spare tire."
Celebrities who tuned in used their position of influence to voice out their thoughts to encourage the public to tune in, as the candidates debated on matters of public policy.
TV host Bianca Gonzalez reminded her followers to watch the debate, and retweeted environmental advocate Anna Oposa, who said, "People need to stop saying it doesn't matter who the VP is kasi "walang ginagawa." There's something wrong kung walang ginagawa yung VP."
