MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Just months after Episode VII: The Force Awakens ushered in a new age for Star Wars fans, the teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has just been released.
Set in a time prior to the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, Rogue One follows a band of fighters employed by the Rebel Alliance, as they set out to do the unthinkable: steal the plans for the Galactic Empire's Death Star – most likely the same one that Princess Leia gave R2-D2 in A New Hope.
The teaser trailer prominently features Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) in the role of Jyn Erso, a wayward young woman who is recruited for the high-stakes mission for the precise reason that she is "reckless, aggressive, [and] undisciplined," as Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) describes her.
"This is a rebellion, isn't it?" Jyn Erso quips. "I rebel."
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Rogue One is a spin-off of the hugely popular Star Wars saga. The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, and Donnie Yen.
Disney has previously promised to release one Star Wars film per year, with the Rian Johnson-helmed Episode VIII set to screen next year. Rogue One is scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2016. – Rappler.com
