Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, said that they are “deeply concerned about the bashing and threats” that the children of their artists have received on social media.
In a statement released on April 14, Wednesday, Star Magic said: “These posts are not only irresponsible and unnecessary, but they are also downright heartless and cruel.”
They also said that these bashers may be liable for violating the law against child abuse (Republic Act 7610) and existing libel laws.
“We will not hesitate in seeking legal action to make sure these individuals, whose post have already caused undue hurt and trauma, will learn their lesson,” they said.
The statement comes after three Star Magic artists took to social media to expose their children’s bashers.
On Monday, April 12, Carlo Aquino and partner Trina Candaza called out a fake account that threatened to use their seven-month old daughter Enola Mithi as a “punching bag.”
A week earlier, on April 7, celebrity couple Janella Salvador and Markus Paterson also fired back at netizens who are making fun of their five-month old son Jude’s appearances. “Come for my son and I will come for you,” Markus said. – Rappler.com
