Disney revealed revealed the star-studded cast for Obi-Wan Kenobi on Monday, March 29, in a tweet on the official Star Wars Twitter account. The upcoming Disney+ special event series will begin shooting in April 2021.

Ewan McGregor will reprise his role from the Star Wars’ prequel trilogy as the legendary Jedi Master and Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader. Joel Edgerton will play as Owen Lars again.

They will be joined by Bonnie Piesse, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Uncut Gems director Benny Safdie, 2013 Emmy-nominee Rupert Friend, The Queen’s Gambit’s Moses Ingram, Fast & Furious’ Sung Kang, Silicon Valley’s Kumail Nanjiani, and Game of Thrones’ Indira Varma.

The series will be produced by Lucasfilm and helmed by Deborah Chow, director of the critically-acclaimed The Mandalorian. It will take place 10 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where the titular character faced his greatest defeat.

Aside from Obi-Wan Kenobi, there are several other Star Wars live-action series being produced for the streaming platform, including a new season of The Mandalorian, a Rogue One prequel, and two The Mandalorian spinoffs – Rangers of the New Republic and The Book of Boba Fett.

The upcoming series will be exclusively streamed on Disney+. – with reports from Aloe Ynion/Rappler.com
