South Korean singer IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, dropped the music video of “LILAC” along with her highly-anticipated, full-length comeback album of the same name on Thursday, March 25.
In an interview with fashion publication W Korea, the singer expressed the meaning behind the album’s title. The flower ‘lilac’ means “memories of youth”.
“I wanted to include a farewell with the message that I’m going onward to my next chapter while also greeting my upcoming 30s at the same time,” she said.
The 27-year old singer’s new album is composed of 10 songs including Celebrity, which was pre-released in January to give a taste of what’s to come with LILAC.
To celebrate the release of the new album, fans took it upon themselves to top the trending topics on Twitter Philippines with the hashtag #LILACHasBloomed.
Following the release of the music video of “LILAC,” IU will drop the music video for the 3rd track of the album “Coin” on March 26.
LILAC is IU’s first full-length album since the release of Palette in 2017. – with reports from Jewel Camacho/Rappler.com
