TV5 is set to announce a new lineup of shows after Brightlight Productions did not renew its Sunday programs on the network.
In a statement released Monday, January 18, the network said it “fully respects” Brightlight’s decision not to renew its Sunday shows while pushing forward with its other programs. The production company is headed by former Negros Occidental representative Albee Benitez.
“Cignal and TV5 respect and understand the decision of Brightlight Productions not to renew its Sunday shows for another season but to focus instead on its other programs with the network, namely, Lunch Out Loud, Rated Korina, and Oh My Dad!. We are honored by Brightlight’s selection of TV5 as its broadcast partner and we look forward to further collaborating with them.”
“In the meantime, we are also preparing to launch more programs for the benefit of the millions of viewers in our traditional and digital platforms. We shall announce a new program lineup very soon.”
Two of Brightlight’s Sunday programs — Sunday Noontime Live (SNL) and Sunday Kada — aired their season-enders on Sunday, January 17. Both shows were part of the company’s initial lineup of programs on TV5.
SNL was hosted by Piolo Pascual, Catriona Gray, and Maja Salvador with Johnny Manahan as director. Sunday Kada starred Ritz Azul, Daniel Matsunaga, and Jayson Gainza and was directed by Edgar, Frasco, and Badji Mortiz. – Rappler.com
